A userscript to add Warning tags to Nexus Mods and their authors.

Installation
  1. Download a userscript extension for your browser, like Violentmonkey

Why I Made This
Nexus Mods and its moderation is horrible. Enforced positivity and author-set permission policies has been disastrous. My hope is that by maintaining this tool, we can add visibility to how rampant this issue is.

It's just us, bros. Every other modding community is COMPROMISED.

You will now know if mods are:
  • broken :broken:
  • whether or not an author is worth engaging with :popcorn2:
  • if the mod author was stingy with their permission policy :knight-cross:
  • Viable alternatives to the mods you are visiting :voting:
  • etc.
You will also be able to quickly hide mods:
Image

How To Report Mods As Broken/Bad
On the mod you want to add to the database, click the Report To HQ button:
Image

Then, fill out the form and click "Copy To Clipboard"
Image

When you click it, it will open this thread and you can paste your clipboard. Post it and I will then review it and add it to the database.
Image

To Do
  • Figure out if we can use a shared database to maintain the list together without my intervention
  • Add ways to filter your mod searches
  • Add Recommended mods
  • Add "mod mirror" download button for specific files

Arthmoor
Author of some of some of Skyrim and Fallout 4's most popular mods:
  • Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch - USSEP
  • Alternate Start - Live Another Life
  • Cutting Room Floor
  • Run For Your Lives
  • The Paarthurnax Dilemma
  • Point The Way
  • Open Cities Skyrim
But he's a ***.

Threatens legal action when people patch his mods and their unnecessary changes
Arthmoor updated his Open Cities Skyrim mod by adding big, ugly, lore-conflicting Oblivion gates to cities. The community hated them and asked for their removal. Arthmoor refused, citing his “artistic vision.”

Someone reuploaded Open Cities without the gates, which enraged him. He went on a spergy tirade about stolen mods, threatened legal action, and accused critics of plotting to destroy the modding scene. A second mod (a simple patch) removed the gates without using Open Cities assets; Bethesda’s VP sided with the patch maker.

Arthmoor eventually “authorized” an official gate-removal patch, continuing to warn that unauthorized patches would break your game and that he wouldn’t support them.

Everything you need to know about Arthmoor.

This is a reoccurring issue for Arthmoor. In Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch (USSEP), he changed a mine near Shor’s Stone from ebony ore to iron ore, claiming Bethesda had made a mistake. This was ******** since it was beyond the scope of the actual mod and ****** up resource distribution.

Arthmoor refused to revert it. To this day, he goes out of his way to get any patches to undo unnecessary USSEP changes taken down.

Eventually, he created an entirely new mine for the ebony instead—but this is still ********. This should've been a separate mod to begin with. USSEP is riddled with unnecessary changes like this.

Goes out of his way to send false, illegal DMCA claims

Removed his mods from Nexus when they made the policy that you can't fully delete your mods off the site
From his Nexus about me: https://www.nexusmods.com/users/684492?tab=about me
Due to the recent policy changes Nexus has instituted, I have put in the request for deletion of most of my files here. Not to worry, everything I have done over the last 15 years has been on AFK Mods for several years now for all of the BGS games I've modded. The files for Skyrim Special Edition and Fallout 4 are also available through the bethesda.net website.

Ya'll can go ahead and get the accusations of hypocrisy over with for the work I will be leaving here since I am in a position at the moment where the income generated through DPs is providing enough to keep me from starving to death (but not much more).

As of this notice, no more updates or new material will be uploaded by myself.

Per the standing agreements with the unofficial patch team members, the unofficial patches for SSE and Fallout 4 will continue to receive all regularly scheduled updates, but these will be the ONLY packages in my account that will be.

Here's to hoping that current efforts by several parties to launch sites that honor a mod author's legal right to delete their content take hold and provide some badly needed competition in this space.

I also want to make one thing crystal clear: No permission will be granted to anyone to upload any of my work that is deleted to Nexus or any other website. So don't ask.

Game Shortname: "baldursgate3"

Status: "CAUTION"
Reason: "This mod author adds poorly balanced drawbacks to his mods, but the real problem is that he intentionally avoids documenting them, so users will get ***-raped when they don't play with his exact build. Basically a minefield.

Money quote: "I made a deliberate choice not to explain how it works, but it's really not that bad once you figure it out." This was in reference to a hidden damage trigger that kills you very quickly unless you happen to be running a high-INT build (there is no way to find this out before triggering the damage, and the readme does not even mention the existence of this trigger.)"

We throw these in the trash btw. Following the unchallenged precedent set by Facebook for years, we(RPGHQ) have concluded that we(RPGHQ) have no obligation to take down content without proof of ownership of said content.
i.e., modders don't own derivative works unless they can show me where the owner of the original work gave them said permissions.

It would be effectively impossible to operate a website that serves video game modifications otherwise.

Thanks. This one should have been an author report really (he has a bunch of other mods that look potentially good), but I'll submit one when the feature is added.

@loregamer Doesn't work on tampermonkey+firefox. It seems it needs github.com to be added to the @connect tags, it only has raw.githubusercontent.com atm

Code: Select all

injected: Refused to connect to "https://github.com/loregamer/nexus-content-curator/raw/refs/heads/main/Resources/author-status.json": This domain is not a part of the @connect list

Sorry, more spam. I've actually got some secret knowledge to share that nobody talks about.

You shouldn't ever install any of those party limit extender mods for BG3. For a few reasons:
  1. All those mods work exactly the same way: run two console commands on save load. The thing is, you can do this yourself manually, it'll work on your save forever from that point on. So it makes no sense to install a mod to re-run the party size commands all the time on every reload constantly
  2. If you have everyone in your party at once, then the game will randomly select 4 of your companions that get used in dialogue. It does not add ALL companions to the dialogue.
    • I don't know if Larian fixed it, but there were a few times that I had the whole party out (combat was great and fun with difficulty mods), but the character who had quest dialogue wouldn't get picked into dialogue, so I'd have to reload my save.
    • Either way, it sucks not knowing which companion gets picked
  3. The game just will spazz out at some points and you will have to dismiss your companions (Again this was my experience with uncapped parties in Patch 4)
    • One notable moment I can think of is the Underdark boat scene
    • Another is the genie lamp in act 3. Completely borked if you have a 4+ party size

So I'm gonna just go ahead and mark all those as Sucks. The ONE exception I can think of is that if you are playing co-op, you can have 3 companions for each player avatar without worry. Otherwise, I don't recommended it

Can you somehow make it so that posts in this thread can only be made through your script and there is no way to just post anything by anyone? Maybe @rusty_shackleford can help?

Works, thanks

BTW, for those who don't want to use userscripts for whatever reason, there's a built-in feature in Nexus to blacklist authors from your search results. Go under Site Preferences:

You can also block tags, I block "translation" so that whenever I search for e.g. NiggerMod I don't have to wade through two pages of "NiggerMod - RU translation".
