[LFP] World's Without Number: Diocesi of Montfroid

Post by The1ShyGuy »

Looking for Players to join my Worlds Without Number game set in Latter Earth setting on the nation of Couront which is basically Medieval France that -like France during the period- is extremely religious.

Now, this is my first time making an actual thread on RPGHQ and if broke some tabboo or did something idioitic posting here or way did, I apologize, I can be an autistic ****** at times.

Gametime is set for Wednesdays at 8pm EST BUT the time is more of a placeholder, want to hear what times would be available for in post if make an application.

I'll give a fanciful spiel as well as the roll20 link to post application proper but for now will just give the base sort of introductory spiel. https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/4138 ... -montfroid

Main set-up for campaign is that you are craftsman, adventurers, priests, mages, mercenaries or the like in some way or another setting out to make a living in a backwater part of Couront known as the Diocesi of Montfroid, joining a caravan headed by Gaspard Lefevre. Montfroid has had colonization and devlopmental efforts twice in the past, each time ending horribly, with the first attempt resulting in the near annihilation and evacuation of all colonists by the invasion of the Fae Lord known as the Ash Duke, the second attempt was done and disrupted by a plague known as the "Green Death" which was concocted by the foul wizard Sabas Lag, now are on third attempt to claim the land proper. Montfroidians are a hardy bunch and need to constantly contend with Gobelins, Fae, Loup-Garous, Heathen Pagans, Bandits among many other sorts of threats to the good godly folk of Couront.

Roll20 also has further details on the setting so be sure to check it out.

If don't know Worlds Without Number is an OSR (Old School Renaissance) system and is compatible with things like AD&D 1e and 2e, Labyrinth Lord, Old School Essentials, Lamentations of the Flame Princess, OSRIC, BFRPG

First off let me you came from RpgHQ by calling me a slur or something amusing in roll20 application, just be careful using actual slurs on roll20 cause the staff there have metaphorical and literal dicks up their *******. Do try and make it somewhat clear how you found the page from RpgHQ so I can give you preferential treatment. Or put "headquarters" somewhere in your app on roll20

Here's fanciful spiel

Welcome to the Diocesi of Montfroid

The Diocesi of Montfroid, a remote and perilous frontier of the venerable kingdom of Couront, stands as both a beacon of opportunity and a testament to the resilience of the devout. Here, where faith and steel are forged against untamed wilderness and blighted monsters, the land offers a chance for greatness amidst adversity. Perched on the unforgiving northwestern coast of Couront along the Hammer Sea, Montfroid is a realm of stark contrasts: cold winds sweeping over pine-clad hills, shadows stretching long over abandoned ruins, and faith burning brightly against the encroaching darkness. Its history is steeped in blood and sacrifice, a legacy of resilience that shapes its people.

Despite its tragic past—the first colonization obliterated by the fae armies of the Ash Duke and the second eradicated by the Green Death, a sorcerous plague unleashed by the vile Sabas Lag—Montfroid calls to the bold and the desperate. This land, fraught with peril, promises untamed wilderness to claim, Deeps rich with hidden treasures, and glory to those who defend the faith. It is a frontier where every victory feels divinely ordained, every setback a test of resolve, and the struggle itself an act of devotion to the Bleeding God, the one true deity of Couront.

The Kingdom of Couront
To understand Montfroid, one must first understand Couront, its parent kingdom. As venerable as it is pious, Couront thrives on the unshakable faith of its people. At its heart is the Church of the Bleeding God, the spiritual lifeblood of the kingdom, uniting its citizens under a shared devotion. The capital city of Montsegur stands as a shining testament to the triumph of the devout over chaos and despair, embodying the strength of a people weathered by war, famine, and divine trials.

Couront’s culture mirrors a medieval France infused with the fervor of deep faith and a touch of Russian stoicism. In this land, faith is both sword and shield, the Church’s hymns echoing in every village to ward off fae influences and other malevolent forces. The doctrines of the Bleeding God shape laws and lives alike, casting the struggles of life as penance and proof of worthiness in the eyes of the divine. Courontines live with the conviction that their trials are sanctified, their victories preordained, and their suffering a sacred offering.

Your Journey Begins
You are part of a caravan led by the indomitable Gaspard Lefevre, a deposed nobleman turned hardened trader. Gaspard’s life is one of grit and survival, ferrying goods, settlers, and adventurers to Montfroid's perilous borders. His caravan is a tapestry of humanity: hopeful settlers seeking free land, traders eager to profit, mercenaries hungry for glory or coin, craftsmen yearning to establish themselves, and adventurers drawn by whispers of treasure and mystery.

The journey begins in the stable lands of the Vescomte d’Auvergne, known for modest prosperity and relative peace. The road to Montfroid cuts through ancient forests heavy with history, passing villages like La Parra and Lebret, where the hardships of frontier life are etched on the faces of the people. Your destination is Castelnou, Montfroid’s administrative heart, where the devout Eveque-Abat Berengar wields spiritual authority and the pragmatic Videm Odo Bezier governs with a steady hand.

Montfroid: The Frontier of Faith
Montfroid is a land where only the resolute thrive. Its wild beauty hides perils both mundane and supernatural. The forests teem with fae creatures bound to their lords, and pagan raiders from Terra Perduda to the east frequently threaten the diocesi's vulnerable villages. Blighted ruins and cursed Deeps are scattered across the land, offering untold riches to those bold enough to plumb their depths—and horrors for the unwary.

Yet it is faith that sustains Montfroid. The settlers are more than adventurers; they are pilgrims, believing their labor to be blessed by the Bleeding God. Every chapel, every whispered prayer, and every ringing bell consecrates the land, protecting it from the fae and dark sorceries. Victory here is not just survival—it is a triumph of faith over chaos.

For Players
As members of the caravan, you are among those who seek a place in Montfroid. Whether colonist, trader, craftsman, mercenary, explorer, or mage, Montfroid offers both opportunity and danger. The land calls for those willing to test their mettle in a place where survival is an act of faith.

What I’m Looking for in Players
Decent Mic: Static or ear-shattering noise will cause me to kms and result in improptu campaign cancellation
Discord: This will be the hub for voice chat, organization, and casual discussions. So have an account, and I know it is run by ******** furfags that routinely sell info and chat logs.
Amicability: Calling someone a nibba-*** is funny the first 3 times but the material definitely gets stale on the 4th
Reliability: Don’t miss session routinely without letting me know sometime beforehand. Don't need a weeks notice but need at least some time so can adjust things accordingly.

What You Should Expect
Split Focus: 40% combat, 40% roleplay, 20% puzzles and exploration.
Maps: I ******* love maps! You’ll see custom-made or appropriate backdrops for most encounters.
Crass Humor: Be prepared for some occasional off-color jokes. Can't handle it... what are you doing on this site?
Starting Level: 1.
