I don't play video games.
This is a video game website.
And yet there is a very active non-video game related section. Just like on the Codex. You really have to wonder if the video game sections only exist to lure the people in for the non-video game content.

Of course, there is a good chance it's the other way around: The video game content is not enough to keep people around as long as you would like. So you offer them something else. Truly a diabolical scheme.

Setup donation drives with objective goals (ie Goal: $1000 = site release, current: 400/1000)so people can clearly see what reaching a given level will produce. It also will help people decide how much they need to help out with.

If you only need a 100 bucks, people will throw a tad bit to it, but... if they see the goal is 1000, you may see larger donations due to it.

Could also spur some min/max OCD types to donate more because... well... gotta have maxed stats am I right?

I see gab put up operational costs goals for their monthly sub requirements and update how close they are to being funded for the month. This causes some to sub a month or two even if they don't regularly sub.

Now you sound like the average mechanic when they come to tell you the repair costs.

I assumed everyone thought it was implied because that's the entire point of it?
I was not aware, because I'm not following your ModHQ project. I'm not interested in mods because I don't play video games. However, I hate faggots and troons and the Nexus is full of those creatures. I might consider donating just to spite them.

In any case you should consider creating a huge, flashing pop-up that comes up whenever you open this site saying "Are you too tired of all the faggots and troons on the Nexus? Then consider donating to the ModHQ!"
Just following up on this. Have you donated yet?

I included the monthly donations total in the header at one point for about 15 minutes but it felt like begging so I removed it, btw. Hope that clears things up.

Going to do a writeup on what needs to be done to get it into closed testing. Main thing right now is just implementing the actual upload part — well, integrating. Also need to implement the account page, and comments on mods.

I regularly visit a bar near my house and I've never had a drink in my life. I enjoy the atmosphere and company, plus I tend to really like the kind of food you can order at bars.

Just make it only available to active HQ members so they can try to break it.

If I commit to having something to show before the year ends that means my failure will be that much more spectacular!

The plurality of time so far has been fucking with the single sign-on, especially if we include the time spent working on it for the forum/vault/chat which was all staging ground for modhq integration. :pipe-thinking:

:headbang:
Took a lot of reading oauth/OIDC standards papers and banging my head on the wall, but I finally have support for single sign-on with the forums. :headbang:

Things left to complete before I can do a trial run:
Mod submission -> Mod package/releases, editing, etc., Just the frontend parts, all the backend is already in place.
Mod comments & issues frontend parts.
User control panel. Same deal, mostly just frontend.
Actual file upload. We only manage metadata so it's not as difficult as it sounds, actual file uploading is handled by a separate service we host & communicate with.

Don't know if I'll have anything to show before the year is up, maybe!

Need to adjust this to make it more obvious which file is the main download and which are optional files, adjust the UI a bit.

Awesome job.

I just came across something that might be of interest while you work on main and optional.
Wyll's of Toril for example has the option to change horns. Which is obviously optional. But to use the optional horn you have to download another mod, which is a dependency you need for the horn to work. I can't hardcode it as a dependency in the mod itself like usual and force a pop up because you can have multiple different base skin colours and which dependency you need is entirely based on the head you downloaded so its like this

MAIN: Neverwinter head
|_____Want horn?
Yes
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ|_________Download horn remover for Neverwinter (Dependency for horn)
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ|_________Download a horn of your choice
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ |_____Horns
Horn A
Horn B
Horn C

MAIN: Calimshan head
|_____Want horn?
Yes
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ|_________Download horn remover for Calimshan (Dependency for horn)
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ|_________Download a horn of your choice
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ |_____Horns
Horn A
Horn B
Horn C

You don't HAVE to cater for this. Just letting you know something like this can exist.
