No preorders, no full investment before the game is launched. But if it is as good as it looks - would be a nice addition.

Humanoid Origin: Earlier today, we informed our staff that Humanoid Origin will be shutting down. Despite efforts to shield the studio from broader challenges in the industry, an unexpected shortfall of funding left us unable to sustain operations.
Humanoid Origin, the studio founded in June 2021 by Mass Effect trilogy director Casey Hudson, which announced in March 2022 that it was working on a “multiplatform AAA game” focused on “character-driven narrative in an all-new science-fiction universe,” will shut down, the company said in a LinkedIn post.

“Earlier today, we informed our staff that Humanoid Origin will be shutting down,” the post reads. “Despite efforts to shield the studio from broader challenges in the industry, an unexpected shortfall of funding left us unable to sustain operations.

“We’re heartbroken that we will not be able to bring our new science-fiction universe to completion. Our main concern at this time however is for our team, and we are committed to supporting them in their transition to new employment.”

Humanoid Origin is based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and aimed to become a company that would “unleash the creative freedom of developers.”

The issue is that Mass Effect's primary genre is not space opera, it's military science fiction with space opera elements.

Do you think they're using enough purple? It might not be enough to appeal to the modern audience.

Not only do games generally become worse, they continue to make less sense.

Somewhere in the middle Jun sais "Make us rich". But main point is fight against Mara-Yama (aliens in that galaxy humans live in now). The Traveller "leads humanity's fight for survival in a hostile galaxy, undertaking interstellar missions to acquire advanced alien technology from powerful beings known as the Celestials".

So, missions to find artifacts and use them in missions to fight aliens.

Writing might be good tho, lead writer of Mass Effect 1 and 2 and KOTOR Drew Karpyshyn is working on the game. That final Collector base fight is one of my favorite memories in gaming ever. I wish we could get something thats at least somewhat close to this some day. And the music..

Every line in the trailer might as well have been chatgpt generated. They had a chance to showcase something interesting and the best they could muster is a collection of generic one liners and generic third person action. I'm not optimistic.

Drew could be entertaining in his lowbrow way, but he was never good.

Mac Walters was the narrative lead on Mass Effect 2, he bounced out after the first one.

Correct. But I can tell you if a choice is between something like Concord characters vs Coomer characters ,I would know exactly which people would prefer even though both are entirely subjective.

I mean the Characters so far in Exodus aren't Andromeda/Veilguard tier ugly. And Jun apparently can be changed looks-wise since the website shows cosmetics on different looking characters.

And well, shamelessly gonna link my invitation link here:

Inb4 the usual crows begins to say that the in-game aliens are allegories of natives who were invaded and colonized by Europeans/humans. kek

IDK if this game will be good or bad. But a question. Is this game the unique SCI FI game that deals with time dilation?

If a ship with some wreid sci fi tech is at 99%c going to proxima B, 4.28years in Earth would be experienced as 7.2 months to them. At 99.99%, would be 22 days for the crew and 4.2404 years on earth. FTL travel is technically impossible as it would break the casualty, think in sending information and reaching the target before the information, would require infinite energy to get to lightspeed and lead to time dilation so the traveler would go backwards in time while accelerating which is a paradox. Also breaks stuff like conservation of momentum and energy. I want to see if this game deals with close to lightspeed travel in a interesting way.
