I like @n3IVI0's animated avatar.
Honestly, I don't see the problem with any of them. So far.

If you think it's an annoying animation, just PM me or something. It's in the rules:Rand wrote: ↑ December 27th, 2024, 14:31Honestly, I don't see the problem with any of them. So far.
Avatars must be sensibly animated. No flashing lights. A gaming avatar is preferred.

What type of audience do you think this site is intended for? The only people who find animated avatars offputting are transsexuals.J1M wrote: ↑ December 27th, 2024, 14:07That would be a solution, but I would suggest that be the default. I think it is an off-putting element for the type of audience this site is intended for.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ December 27th, 2024, 11:13What about an option that causes animated avatars to instead just display their first frame?J1M wrote: ↑ December 27th, 2024, 03:48Since it appears to be a season where the site is open to changing rules, I will again advocate for the banning of animated avatars.

I'd like to add GOG widgets similar to Steam embed, but there's no good way to convert a standard GOG url to its widget.
https://docs.gog.com/gog-widget/
That's just silly…
https://docs.gog.com/gog-widget/
e.g., a steam URL isNext, you will need to add the DOM element in any place you want the widget to be visible:Code: Select all
<html> ... <body> ... <div class="gog-widget" data-game="{gameID}"></div> </body> </html>
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1374930/Black_Geyser_Couriers_of_Darkness/
, so it can be parsed to grab its game ID for its embed code. But a standard GOG URL is: https://www.gog.com/en/game/black_geyser_couriers_of_darkness
, you have to consult an external service to grab its ID I guess? That's just silly…

Global ratelimit applied to stop excessive requests(read: automated scraping), it shouldn't be able to be triggered unless you're doing something you shouldn't be doing but let me know if you hit it.

It appears trooncore browsers disable caching and trigger the rate limiting immediately.
Solution: Stop using browsers designed for trannies.

I don't think I've had any problems related to this. My question about ads was more to fuel confirmation bias that other developers don't know what they are doing. I assumed you would be able to make the changes without impacting page load.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ January 2nd, 2025, 15:59I'm still monitoring this. @J1M are you having issues?rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ January 2nd, 2025, 04:38Global ratelimit applied to stop excessive requests(read: automated scraping), it shouldn't be able to be triggered unless you're doing something you shouldn't be doing but let me know if you hit it.

Are you sure? I can see you triggering it. I suspect I know what's causing it, I should be able to fix it on my end.

If I am it must be caused by something I'm not actively doing. Perhaps one of these HQ extension scripts.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ January 2nd, 2025, 17:15Are you sure? I can see you triggering it. I suspect I know what's causing it, I should be able to fix it on my end.

loregamer wrote: ↑ December 26th, 2024, 01:40Oh shit I just tested it, my userscripts have been inflating view counts since they do fetch requests LOL @rusty_shackleford
With all my userscripts on, each refresh = 5. With them off, is only 1 per refresh

I’ll optimize my scripts this weekend to not do over fetching and try to cache more often @rusty_shackleford
