[Online RPG] Planeshift debuts Unreal-powered client, major changes

Post by rusty_shackleford »

This old dog has learned new tricks. First released in 2002, Planeshift has recently received a major update including an entire rewrite of the client itself and an expansion of the play area. They don't seem to have published any videos, but do offer some screenshots for comparison.

You have to click on the images in the comparison links to get them to change.
One downside is that the source for the client unlike the older one is currently unavailable due to third party licensing issues, hopefully this get this sorted out in a timely manner.

Planeshift is completely free to play — in the truest sense as there is zero monetization — if you wanted to check it out.

Very interesting, an actually fan-made online RPG. I'll be taking a look.

From looking at the images, legacy looks much better in terms of design, way less muddy. Honestly, the more I look at it, the more I wonder why they bothered? Certainly a terrible picture to advertise it.
