Indie when it comes to game developers has come to mean something very different than "just" whether or not a studio is independent. Also Doesn't tencent own like 30% of Larian?

Tencent invested in them and WotC told them to fill the game with poz, with which they complied. Hard to call that independent.

Wasn't China buying or investing in Larian or something? In my eyes, anything being invested in by something that might have an ulterior motive woke global inc. is not an indie studio anymore.

Are they owned by anyone else? Unfortunately Yes. 30% owned by fucking TenCent. Those are apparently just "dividend" shares but, money talks..

Are they "large"? Well nowdays, yes. Hardly a dude in his bedroom anymore.
I saw someone say one definition could be where even the CEO gets involved in the game dev. Larian's CEO DOES get involved (going by comments in the files), but I think that's only from a 'direction' perspective.
HMMMM... Might keep pingponging my vote.
