Better Companions
Previously known as Wilhelmine Ravengard, which is now part of this bigger project. Use the download links below for everything.
For more lines to be changed in the Localization, post them in the Mod Support thread. I won't answer to anything regarding those lines here, as to not see this thread cluttered with it.

  • [Visuals] Wilhelmine still requires an update as the game doesn't recognize her head armature.


Introduction and General Information

An overhaul of the present companions with surprises coming in the future. This project is planned to change the backstories of the characters to varying degrees. A few examples: Astaria Ancunín being the Sister of Astarion, Gaile not being a lover of Mystra and Jaheira being an Elf. It is all a Work-in-Progress and open for changes. The currently available content of the project can be downloaded below.

In-Game
  • Bloodstone Eyes in the Character Creation Menu: It should be overwritten by the ORIGIN_Wyll settings. Similar to the previous issue of red eyes. Will look into it soon.
  • Similar issues occur for the other origins in the Character Creation Menu.
  • Character Creation Menu Origin Character Camera Cut-Off: There are camera settings for each origin. Haven't found a solution yet, but a few ideas have come up.
  • Infernal Robe Replacement (Wilhelmine): There is an issue with the Infernal Robe. While it is worn on a female character outside of the cut-scene, it is worn like female armor. Inside the cut-scene, the game sees it as a
  • male-armor and it leads to some visual issues.
  • Hair Highlights: Tav's Hair Salon doesn't allow for it, but it is available with the Base Game Hairstyles. Haven't tested it for Umberlee's or Vesnelle's Hair mods yet.

Is it compatible with other mods which changes the visuals ?
Depends. The Visual Overhauls of this project are gender, texture and head changes at the current state. There is compatibility with mods who change the body of the races. This applies to equipment. Humans, Elves, Drows, Half-Elves, they share the same body armature.

Why do the companions still sound like the original characters sometimes ?
It is difficult to extract the missing sound files from SharedSoundBanks.pak with their .bnk file format. These are, as indicated, sound banks bundled together.
All other voice tracks of the companions, with their SpeakerUUID_DialogHandle file names, are part of the currently available Voice Conversions here. Same with the Point & Click Sounds.

When is the next update of the Voice Conversions coming ?
In due time. It takes more time to get this done. Worst case the companions have to be muted for a more immersive experience, for the time being.

Help! Why is the new speaker name not shown ?
It only checks for the Speaker Name when encountering a NPC for the first time. For example, in case of Le'zil, it requires a new playthrough, as he appears in the Nautiloid at the start. Otherwise, it uses the default.

Why are there lines where the wrong pronouns are still in ?
The game is filled with so much content that a few details can easily be missed. If you find any lines requiring changes, be sure to post them here. Will update the Localization when missing lines appear during my playthroughs as well.

Oh sh*t, I kind of forgot about him. For the time being, use the model (and the portrait) from Wyll of Neverwinter. To add him to this mod, use the unzipped Wilhelmine pak on the Multitool, you should get it in folder format then. Add the folder content from Wyll of Neverwinter to it, extracted in the same manner from its pak via the Multitool. Only the Ravengard files, not the Wyll ones which have to be deleted. And only one meta.lsx file as two should lead to conflicts.
Then drop the Wilhelmine folder with its new content on the Multitool to have it be a Zip-File again, unzip and install the new pak instead.
As for adding a different Ravengard into this mod here. Will have it be done in around 1-2 days (after the first localization addition later). Old save files of mine are inaccessible right now due to the Daughter of Lloth mod. So, I have to see if a re-installation works to test things properly. Otherwise, videos with the voice of Duke Ravengard should help inspire a good preset to use and a normal play-through with some delay has to suffice.

Hello there, this looks very nice and promissing, but I do have one question, from what I understood you also editing default language files to adapt the "he" for "she", so is this compatible with the No Alphabets mod or do both conflicts?

Sorry if this sound a too basic question, but unsure how language files works in this game.

As long as he edits the NoAlphabets Lingo file instead of the vanilla, it should be compatible.

As Orin wrote, it has to be edited in the NoAlphabets file. Trying earlier to just override certain content UIDs (with more changes than pronouns) didn't lead to the wanted results. Guess it really works differently than with simple visual overhauls and other things.
Going foward, I will provide versions of the NoAlphabetLingo instead, so Orin can add them to her mod list in the respective topic. Or I can add them here, if that is fine too.
With the other companion mods, my plan is for it to be handled separately, like NoAlphabetLingoFemWyll and NoAlphabetLingoFemWyllGale, NoAlphabetLingoGale to give an example. If anyone has an easier and less time-consuming solution, I am all ears though! :D

A small update regarding the Epilogue. It is compatible with the mod, Wyll has the ORIGIN_Wyll_Devil parameters there. (The Wylla mod kind of confirmed it before, but can't hurt to double-check)
Just the voice is male, goshdarnit! (Nolester missed the lines with his voice mod, although it lacks pronoun changes amongst other things.)

The localization component is removed and the mod reverted back to version 1.0.0.0. Good ol' Ravengard should be ready in a few hours maximum.

Without the use of the Appearance Edit mod, you can't. It simply returns its text message. With it, you can, but it requires Appearance Edit Origins one for the full customization. (Enhanced and Origins are both compatible with Patch #6, no clue about the newest hot-fixes)

Yes, that the re-sculptured version appears in the Magic Mirror past the Mizora cut-scene kind of confirms it as well that the Origin characters only have one set race option, excluding the Dark Urge. The game sees Wyll as human all the way, even in his/her devil form. And despite any visual race changes.
The conflict with the Tiefling visual race change is that Appearance Edit doesn't account for it when using the Magic Mirror. So @loregamer has to look into it if he wants. Or maybe someone else who can decipher the code and then add more race options to the Origin characters. :D
As an alternative, Resculpt still works wonderfully. Wyll uses mostly the default Warlock template anyway, safe for the Folk Hero background and using the Custom Character option during re-sculpting shouldn't lead to any issues, since the Origin settings with its scripts, dialogues, should be coded elsewhere and unaffected by AEE.

Update!

Along with a new appearance of Duke Ravengard added yesterday, English Localization has been included in the first post. It is a modified version of Orin's NoAlphabetsLingo.
For an idea or draft of an item to implement next, to give Wyll and her father more background lore, a text for it has been added in the first placeholder post. More are to follow.

Does this mod edit the pronouns so that they match the change in sex? In other words, where Wyll is called "he" is she now called "she"? Like the Aylin mod? Great idea for a mod.

Yes, with the use of NoAlphabetLingoFemWyll, as a separate install in the Mod Manager. It is a modification of Orin's NoAlphabetLingo. You find it under Installation in the first post. (Might switch to NoRomPlatonicLingo later, will have to ask CrusaderKnight what he changed exactly)
The changes aren't 100 % complete, but should have the most important ones. Some lines of text directed towards Wyll are harder to find. If you find any which require change, feel free to post them here.
Voice change will be added in the future for more immersion too. Not sure if it comes before the addition of some lore items or not, which are easier to add.

One small note though, there have been some issue with the localization on my side since yesterday, but troubleshooting is underway.

So, troubleshooting in the last few days hasn't led to the wanted result and there seems to be a deeper issue with the game on my side. Basically localization cannot be overridden for some unexplainable reason (yet), even though it was possible before. The likely culprit here is Ninja Ripper, an external program. Doubtful it was Ring of Metamorph. It cannot be ruled out that it is a bug from some changes on Larian's side, but it would have to be with Patch 6 and its hotfixes.
Nevertheless, feel free to use the NoAlphabetLingoFemWyll Pak. It has worked well before, and doesn't differ much from NoAlphabetLingo except for some changed lines.
For now though, the focus will be on an overhaul of the visuals along with a new item.

Hello there.

I been keeping an eye on this mod of yours (waiting for the language/voice edits), and don't know if you aware or not, but there is a mod on Nexus that has Voice swaps for all companions, don't know if you can add it as a "requirement" and use it instead of make a complete fresh new one from scratch.

Just a suggestion, I came up to it while searching for Halsin edits.

Hi there.
I have stumbled upon the Voice Swaps mod before, but haven't used it until today. Its voice change is decent.
Along with it, Nolester's Voice Conversion Mod has been added as as link under Mod-Dependencies in the first post. Both sadly do not change other NPCs' voice lines, so Wyll is still referred as a he. They are kind of a band-aid fix.
This will be taken care of in the future, with a proper voice change akin to the Ser Aylin mod. It will be some time until then, as I am currently data-mining stuff.

Sorry for the delay with the update. It is a rather small one, unfortunately.
Health issues have kept me from modding for a while. The next update will take some time as I will have relatives over for the next (possibly whole) week. There should still be time to work on the mod some more here and there.
More additions are underway as can be seen in the To-Do list which has seen some changes.

What body type does this mod use?wyll chick mod on nexus gave me broken animations because I used the version with body type 1, i used body type 3 this time and it works but wylla looks like tranny with those big ass shoulders so its not perfect solution
I didn't try though to use tav with body 2, i wonder if animations would still be broken if i used body 2 on body 1

It uses Female aka Body Type 2.
The animations are adjusted to the body and head meshes of the characters. Having played a bit around with the Ring of Metamorph, even having the same body type but e.g. a different head mesh led to clipping. The method here, which I do not know if you have seen yet, may be of help. Not sure if Wyll uses Body Type 4 or Male Strong, but if he does, then a recommendation is to apply his animations to a Male Strong Tav and the Human Female one to Wyll. As there are different variants for an animation, divided into character races.
A more thorough and cleaner fix will most likely require changing them in Blender.

Currently doing a playthrough by playing her as I never did Wilhelmine quests, kinda love it, I also modded a mizora companion.

Glad to hear! Hope you will enjoy the additions in the future. It will take some time until more is added since things are a bit messy on my end.
Out of curiousity, with the Mizora companion did you change Wyll's Cambion one, or added a completely new one ?

For everyone: A loose NoAlphabetsLingo 4.5.0 file with additional text line changes to Wyll has been uploaded. Link in the first post. Will have more lines added over time as I already noticed some requiring changes.
AI Voice conversion for these will be added. Only requires to change these 450-500 text lines to have their respective voiced counterparts modified. The base voice conversion is already ready, thanks to Gillious's great help.
