I'll be happy to vote for Rogue Trader as retroactive GOTY once it gets all fixed and patched in like 5 years.

At least now we've confirmed who all the faggots and zoophiles are. They should be marked.

Also what a shit selection. Miserable. I can't stand any of these games. I picked Etrian Odyssey but only because it's the best thing I saw on the list.

57% Tranny's Gate 3 so far. Turns out RPGHQ is more pozzed than the Codex

One picked the actual rpg of the year, the other picked anything else just to seem too cool to play popular games.

To be fair, I'd be surprised if anyone there actually plays rpgs.

Contesting the vote is more fun than participating in it.

I enjoyed Persona 3 but not as the portable version a little more than BG3 overall. So I'll put my vote there since BG3 will likely win overall anyway.
@SoLong What about the Persona 3 Portable version did you dislike?
Oh, I didn't dislike anything about it. I just played the previous version and saw no need to buy another version of the game.

It seems that RPGHQ is definitely the place that prioritizes gameplay above all else.

@orinEsque and @Crusaderknight20 turned BG3 from my biggest disappointment into my favorite game of the year. Thank you both.
tbh if that was enough to turn the game around 180 degrees for you, you are probably gay.
Less of a 180 degree turn and more of a way to remove mold from an otherwise perfectly appetizing meal.

I voted based on playtime. A "good" game is subjective, but denying the game you spent the most time in is retarded.

There are games that have naturally low playtime needed while others naturally require hundreds of hours. This criteria is quite unfair to some games.

I hate how polls like this tend to end up not being about what games are the best, but rather what games people have played. I'll be honest, I haven't played most of them, and even though Hogwart's Legacy isn't necessarily a great CRPG, it was a really good game. But I also feel like one of these other fuckers probably deserve the crown more.

If it wasn't so fucking broken and felt more finished and polished, I'd probably have voted Rogue Trader, yeah. I hope to return to it in a year or so, but I also think that it'll be one of those games where I won't have any difficulties sticking to that idea.

So-called "games" with less than 100 hours of content are in fact paid demos.

Don't get me fucking started. People that claim that there's such a thing as a game being "too long" needs to be attacked in the streets. Imagine playing the entire Infinity Engine series and pretending they're not all basically the same game done in different ways.

There's no such thing as a "too long game". There's just games that outstay their welcome because they run out of ways to keep you engaged, whether that's because the mechanics fail to push the right buttons or if the storytelling drops off a cliff, or frustration build-up from declining quality, or whatever.

If you need 100 hrs with a game, you're a fieldnigger incapable of adapting to new challenge.

I don't need it, but I want it, for the same reason I don't need to have a blanket to sleep but I like being snuggly.

Caves of Lore is a pretty good game and I like the developer's work ethic. There were a few bugs when I gave it a try and after being contacted they quickly pushed the fixes that squashed them all in only a few days. Considering the state that many games are being left in that is something I can appreciate.

That makes sense. A lot of RPGs are a single playthrough affair.

On the topic of Persona 3 I was surprised they'd go to the trouble of remaking it in Persona 3 Reload and then not include both the content from Persona 3 Portable and Persona 3: FES.

Perhaps the only time in history a remake has been too conservative.

Past 20 hrs, and its a physical need.

Of the listed titles I only played Baldur's Gate 3 to my knowledge, but for how it broke my heart from how it used to be in Early Access, I would never give it my vote. Not like this.

True! In one of the earliest posts on this forum, I said that Caves of Lore would be 2023 Game of the Year. I'm glad to be proved correct. :smug:
