How is it too late when the newest DLC for MW5 is less than three months old?

Lack of imagination.
But, hey, at least they're not trying to make some fungus spore jumpdrive ******** happen.

Aliens are great. Every setting needs some gross creatures for humanity to destroy.

I'm sure it will amount to almost 1/12 of what you can get via mods!

Didn't want to make a new thread for this, but there is a new DLC for Mechwarrior 5 and I'm pretty hyped. Came out today. Will probably buy it in a bit.

Yeah man, you always have pretty solid tastes, so give us your 2 cents. I'd be interested to read your thoughts on it.

Cheers!

I loved the arena missions in MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries!

They brought back the guy that did the commentary during the matches to reprise his role as Duncan Fisher.

Also, MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries is great and abandonware. For anyone that wants to scratch the mech itch, there's few better games out there.

MechWarrior 5 started out on a wet fart, but after years of patching, DLC and mods the game has really shaped up to be a worthy successor to MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries.

Too bad it's only half a game.
It starts getting good, should change into a power player merc guild and the game warps you to a strange epilogue mission where all that happened inexplicably in the background.
"Here's a mission we completed. No, that's all you get. Game over!"

A faction that practices eugenics and genetic engineering to breed the best warriors humanity has ever seen - in the trailer out of the five one is a ******, and another one is a woman.

And then they wonder why they lost against a telecom company and a bunch of inbred nobles.

Been a Mechwarrior/ Battletech fan since the 90s when MW 2 came out. I am honestly kind of hype for this even though my better judgement says PGI is trash and should not be trusted.

So its not an expansion anymore? Will it have any cross content with MW5?

Doubtful, since I think this one was developed with UE5, and Mercenaries is UE4.

This is supposed to be a story driven campaign with, so far, no sandbox elements.

Some tech wizard may know better, but as far as I've read it's not so complicated to port UE4 assets into UE5. If they use that as a ******** excuse then they'll pretty much leave Mercs behind after all these years of trying to make it work via mods.
It is kind of not too awesome to leave the abandoned-at-release MW5 crowd expecting a Clans DLC to be told they have to drop 60 greenies for a sequel no one actually needs with the excuse of having a now functional MW5.

Not everything's bleak though, as modders may yet save the day by either reimporting Clans assets into Mercs or the other way around if Piranha doesn't pull their head outta their ***.

I don't think that's what's going to happen. We already have a YAML mod that puts a clan invasion into the game that starts in the lore accurate time frame. For now, the Clan is just a single faction but you see the respective clans as subfactions on missions and they use clan mechs with clan tech.

What I mean is, we already basically have a lot of Clan tech in Mercenaries and after a few more years, that mod will basically add the entire clan invasion. I would assume that is easier than porting the entire career sandbox mode from Mercenaries into UE5. Admittedly, I don't know, but from what I heard modding Unreal is a pain in the *** so unless PBG gives Clans modding tools like they did for Mercenaries I am not seeing that happening.

Additionally, Mercenaries already has a LOT of content to enhance the sandbox and it doesn't seem to be stopping. In fact, I think after playing Clans, the modder's will to improve the sandbox of Mercenaries will be reignited.

From the trailer, the mech's movement seems a little too fast and lacks stompyness. I hope its just trailer/pre-release built jank and they didn't just made it an FPS with mech skins instead of the more sim-like feeling of Mercenaries.

Ill try those out. The mechwarrior 2 computer voice mod, the coyote and some other mission packs and the MW2 fonts are the only things that motivated me to play it after all this time. Maybe hell can freeze over before I pay for the same game twice.

What are you even talking about?

It's called "Mechwarrior 5: Clans". The KKK only has 4 mechs, so far.
