Summary
"No Alphabets" mod pack ensures that the gender, sexuality and politics of world NPCs match medieval status quo.
It leverages the power of Voice AI to fix 1 major, 4 quest-related and 23+ minor NPCs. Where relevant, everything related to an NPC's identity have been altered i.e. appearance, voice, SFX, subtitles and how other NPCs refer to the target NPC.
Nearly 700 lines have been changed for the Ser Aylin Project alone! Character Creator has been revamped too!
These mods works perfectly in multiplayer.

• The Non-Binary option is no longer selectable
• The trans icon beside body type has been removed.
• Body Type is now "Gender & Musculature"
• Body Type options are now "M", "F", "MS", instead of 1, 2, 3, 4.
• First body type is Male instead of Female.
• Removed Female Strong as an option
• Colored the Male and Female buttons blue and pink
• Moved Skin Color above Heads (Less scrolling if you have lots of head mods)
• Voices are now described as Male 1, Female 1 etc instead of Voice 1, Voice 2
• Optionally remove "Genitals Carousel" & "Hide Clothes" from Character Creator. Genital will set to default sex-based one.
• Identity carousel has been removed completely. Now NPCs treat you like a woman/man based on your "Gender & Musculature" selection.

• Player can no longer ask whether Minthara was sexually attracted to Orin in the aftermath of Ketheric battle.
• [BBA compatibility]Names of 10 Fist members and cashguards have been altered to match their body/ethnicity.

Disguise / Infiltration Spells

• Now uses Male and Female instead of Masculine/ Feminine Body type.
• Githyanki Female Disguise Self no longer has a penis.

⤴Retrofitted politics and lore considerations

General

• Altered mention of diversity and pride in conversation with anti-refugee protestors.
• Corpses of human refugees in Act 3 are now called dead man, dead woman, and other races are just called dead dwarf, dead halfling, etc, to make them stand out a bit in this human majority city.
• Ilmater book mentions self sacrifice instead of self-flagellation

Hag Watch

1. Hag Survivors have been renamed to Hag Watch.
2. All mentions of support group and "feelings" have been scrubbed out.

Squatter/Merchant Conflict

1. Squatters are no longer referred to as a refugee.
2. You can now suggest the merchant hire the squatters as servants.
3. You can now Attack. the squatter directly in conversation. But this will break your oath.
4. Intimidating or persuading the squatter will NO longer break your oath.
5. Dialog has been heavily revamped to condemn trespass and coveting private property.

⤴Current Exceptions
If an identity adds to the game/ too embedded in lore / would not be out of place in medieval times it has not been altered.

1. Raphael - degeneracy from a devil? What a surprise.
2. Circus dopplegangers - racial rationale
3. Alfira and Lakrissa - stays in the closet and confides only if prodded in a round about way.

1. DONE - Any NPC gender swapped to women now wear a dress instead of male clothes.
2. DONE - Change Aylin's greeting to: "Come to bask in the grace of the moon maiden's light?"
3. DONE - SFX - All gender changed NPCs now have correct sound effect. So you can go on a killing spree without worrying about hearing a women's voice coming out of a man

Politics

1. DONE - You can no longer call Astarion a racist in the Gur convo. You say he's "swift to cast judgement" instead.
2. DONE - Naoise no longer lectures you about beastiality being normal, instead she'll acknowledge that she's a whore, to whom degeneracy is bread and butter.
3. DONE - Theda Grosz no longer tells you how liberating it is to be unshaved.

Alphabets

1. DONE - Naoise the brothel whore(L) now correctly refers to Jara as a man.
2. DONE - Vilmina (L) and Norya Baker (L) carry love letters from their male lovers instead of each other.
3. DONE - Tuloria (L) is now a male noble called Tulor.
4. DONE - Karlach (L) now mentions her foray with a halfling man instead of a woman.
5. DONE - Astarion (G) talks about wanting a pretty virgin instead of a handsome one.

User Support

1. DONE - Diagnosed issue with Aylin always having a beard. It's an override, so delete the Beard mod from your Mod Manager and make sure its not in your Mods folder if you want to get rid of the beard.

⤴1. Install Dependencies

1. Install a mod manager for BG3
   • Windows/Mac: BG3 Mod Manager
   • Linux: Lampray

⤴3. Installing the Mods

1. Simply drop the zip files onto the right hand panel of the BG3 Mod Manager.
2. Once there, drag all the mods except Dice06 and Honour to the left hand panel.
   
   Load Order
   1. IMPORTANT: Move NoAlphabets Aesthetics to the BOTTOM of the mod list.
   2. If something isn't working for you, move ALL the NoAlphabets mods to the BOTTOM of the mod list.
      
   3. OPTIONAL: If you wish to give Aylin a permanent beard, you will definitely need BG3 Mod Manager, and set "BeardedAylin" to load after "Aesthetics".
3. Go to File > Export Order to Game.
4. Go to File > Refresh Mod Updates.
5. If upon refresh your mods end up on the right hand panel, repeat step 2 onwards.

Read the Troubleshooting Tab in case you run into issues before opening a support thread.

⤴4. Uninstalling No Alphabets

It IS SAFE to uninstall No Alphabets at any point in your game.

Uninstalling No Alphabets

1. Go into BG3 Mod Manager
2. Delete all the No Alphabets modules you added.

TROUBLESHOOT

TROUBLESHOOTING

1. Naked people standing around in Character Creation

• Install latest version of Mod Fixer[/url] - note: this is not needed since patch 7

3. Can't speak to NPCs

• You forgot to install .NET (not framework) as a part of your BG3 Mod Manager installation.

5. Can't click on anything in game

• You may need the install latest version of Script Extender. Note: None of my mods use Script Extender.

6. Can't click on anything in game but I have installed all of the above!
This may be due to either one of these reasons:

1. You forgot to install Modfixer for BG3. - not needed since patch 7
2. You are sailing the high seas and your game is outdated.
3. You may be running your game on an older DirectX version. BG3 Mod Manager can cause crashes if you use versions older than DX11. Try using Vortex mod manager instead.

7. How do I get rid of the message at character creation?

• Install ImprovedUI

8. My Beard Mod is not showing up
10.What mod order should I have?
11.NPC voice is female but body is still male / NPC voice is male but body is female sometimes?

• Make sure to "Export Load Order" in your mod manager before starting your game.
• Your mod loading order is incorrect. Lower down on list = higher priority. Put no Alphabets Aesthetics in the bottom of your list.
  

12.Graphics glitches/ flashing ray and tears coming off Aylin/ other NPCs

• You are likely you are using BG3Mod Manage without DirectX11. Use DX11 or use Vertex mod manager instead of BG3MM
• Can also be related to your game being an older version.

FAQs & RECOMMENDATIONS

Will this work in multiplayer?

• Yes. All my BG3 mods work in multiplayer. Remember all participants must have the exact same mods and the exact same mod order for the multiplayer game to work.

Do I install all the CCreator mods?

• No only install one CCreator. They overwrite one another.

Do I need to install Baldur's Better Aesthetics? Or does this mod incorporate it?

• This mod does not incorporate Better Baldur's aesthetics. Just install either my BBA Minimalist version or @AlbertHeinous's BBA (whiter) version. Both will be compatible with No Alphabets.

Do I need to install yedlike's Ser Aylin Mod if I have No Alphabets?

• No, I've added Ser Aylin to this mod. Install only No Alphabets.

Is there a mod manager for linux users?

• Yes: Lampray

Is this mod up to date?

• Check the compatibility section the FAQs Tab.

Do I need to start a new game for this to work?

• No. It will take immediate effect no matter where you load your game.

Compatibility

Now fully compatible with patch 7
Savegames

• You can enable and disable all NoAlphabets mods whenever you want. They will not affect your save games (Larian fixed that issue now where you can't load without the mod you saved your game with).
  
  Future Patches
  1. "Voice" "Aesthetics" and "Lingo" are all patch proof. "Lingo" works by me giving the game a new "version" of an existing line. If larian patches in a version that is higher or same as the "version" I implemented, then I would need to reupdate lingo.
  2. For "CCreator", note the version compatibility given above. If devs made any major changes to character creator, this mod may cause major conflicts and will need updating.
  Other mods
  • Note: Do not download SniperChris' Baldur's Better Aesthetics (outdated). Instead install either my BBA Minimalist version or @AlbertHeinous's BBA (whiter) version. The original BBA had a Lingo file that conflicts with No Alphabets.
  • CCreator is fully compatible with Improved UI for Patch 7, however other mods may clash with CCreator if it changes the character creation screen.

TRANSLATE

HOW TO TRANSLATE THIS MOD

Required Applications

1. Notepad++ or something similar (https://notepad-plus-plus.org/)
2. Norbyte's LSLib Export tool (https://github.com/Norbyte/lslib/releases)
3. ShinyHobo's Multi-Tool (https://github.com/ShinyHobo/BG3-Modders-Multitool)
4. BG3 Localization Helper - My little tool to make your life easier.

1. Extract Language Pak
We will assume you are extracting a French pak file

1. Find your localization file under a path similar to: Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Localization\French\french.pak (this can be english.pak, italian.pak etc)
2. Copy the file to a location that does NOT have an empty space in the path. And is not a system folder.
3. Open LSLib and navigate to the PAK/LSV Tools Tab
4. Under "Extract package" section, in the Package Path field, copy and paste the location and filename of your french.pak file
5. Under Destination path, paste in the name of the folder where you want to extract the package. Let's go with C:\Desktop\French
6. Hit Extract Package
7. Download and unzip the NoAlphabets Lingo mod from the Downloads Tab. Inside you will find the NoAlphabetsLingo.pak
8. Use the exact same methods as above to extract this packaged into for example C:\Desktop\NoAlphabetsLingo folder.

2. Get a human readable xml file

1. You can now navigate to C:\Desktop\French\Localization\French. There you will see a "french.loca"
2. Open LSLib and navigate to the Localization Tab
3. Under Input file path, copy and paste the location and filename of your loca file, in this case, C:\Desktop\French\Localization\French\french.loca
4. Under Output file path, paste the exact same path, but replace the file name from french.loca to french.xml
5. Hit Convert

3. Extracting changed lines in your language

1. Open BG3_Localization_Helper-vX.X.exe
2. Go to the XML comparison tab.
3. Old XML File: Path to your extracted french.xml [If you already have a translation just use your own french.xml]
4. New XML File: Path to your No Alphabets' english.xml
5. Output File: C:\Desktop\NoAlphabetsLingo-FR\Mods\NoAlphabetsLingo-FR\Localization\French\french.xml
6. Leave the "Include modifications" box unchecked.
7. Click Compare Files
   
   This creates a french.xml file with the correct folder structure which only contains the equivalent French lines that No Alphabets changed.
8. If you translated before and there is an update that changes existing lines, you can compare the old version of No Alphabets' english.xml to the new No Alphabets' english.xml and check the "Include modifications" box to isolate changes to previously modified lines as well as new lines.

4. Editing the xml file

1. Now open the newly created french.xml file extracted french.xml, which only contains specific in-game text, in notepad++ or similar application.
2. It will look like this::

   Contentuid, otherwise known as handle, will be same across languages and must NOT be changed. Only change the part where it says "Hon hon hon, Baguette".

5. Increase line version number
Once you are done editing, you need to increase the version number of each individual line. For example, I've ramped up the version number to 99 below.

• Open BG3_Localization_Helper-vX.X.exe
• Go to Version Fixer tab
• Input File: Path to your modified french.xml
• Same as above
• Each time you click the Fix Version button it will increase the version number of each line by 1. Click it as many times as you like. Imo maybe 10 times, just in case Larian does some changes.

6.Packing your translated Lingo mod

1. Your french.xml should be in a folder like so: Desktop\NoAlphabetsLingo-FR\Mods\NoAlphabetsLingo-FR\Localization\French
2. Copy the meta.lsx from my Desktop\NoAlphabetsLingo\Mods\NoAlphabetsLingo to Desktop\NoAlphabetsLingo-FR\Mods\NoAlphabetsLingo-FR
3. Open meta.lsx and search for "orinEsque", add your name to it. e.g. "orinEsque, you"
4. You should also change the UUID with a fresh new one. You can generate a new one using BG3 Multimodder's tool
   
5. In the same file look for NoAlphabetsLingo, and change it to NoAlphabetsLingo-FR. Must match the folder name in bold in this case NoAlphabetsLingo-FR.
   This is what the English version looks like.
   
6. Now open BG3 Multimodder's tool, drop the entire NoAlphabetsLingo-FR folder to the blue area where it says "Drop mod workspace folder or a mod .pak here". And you will now get a NoAlphabetsLingo-FR.zip file.

5.Uploading

Detrooning

Compatibility

1. Lingo File no longer overwrites every line in-game.
2. Translators can now use the same structure to only change specific lines! (Tutorial)
3. With this update the [PAK]Lingo and hacky loose file Lingo files will be completely obsolete. Click on the "INSTALL" Tab to see how to uninstall the loose Lingo file, if confused.
4. Finished updating Aesthetics mod.
5. Portraits have been generated using Modding Toolkit for 22 NPCs that need them! No more screenshotted portraits yay! (Tutorial)

4. You can now Attack. the squatter directly in conversation. But this will break your oath.
5. Intimidating or persuading the squatter will NO longer break your oath.
6. Dialog has been heavily revamped to condemn trespass and coveting private property.

I imagine it will be quite the hassle to chop chop interactions between Isobel and Aylin, but they are not as obnoxious - which means they are easy to spot and cutting them out won't change much of the context

As soon as it's revealed they're a couple, they both cease being characters. They literally don't say anything that isn't some variation of "OMG I love my girlfriend uguu~~~". You could cut it all.

I wished Aylin was a male Aasimar
She is written like she would be a dude from the start. It would be more wholesome too

But modern writing for "strong women" is just writing a dude and place female head and tits on him

Even Sisters of Battle from WH40k have more femininity than Aylin, and they are twice as zealous about fighting for their faith

At first I liked the theme of a Priest banging the child of the god they follow, but Aylin is just...insufferable

If they were lesbians like Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune, it would be much more bearable, but Isobel is far from feminine like Neptune is, and Aylin has neither the charm nor stoicism of Uranus.

I've started with two easier NPCs. I'm new to this voice changing AI, so I will use these throwaway NPCs as a stepping stone. The mod now has an added component! "NoAlphabetsVoice". Make sure to download that otherwise there will be appearance and voice mismatch.

What are your opinions of Alfira and Lakrissa? It isn't as shoehorned and dislikeable as Aylin... I'm a bit divided.

Nocturne will now be a man who is good with doing girls' hair and tried turning himself into a woman with a potion but hated it. He now changed his name to become a new man that embraces his feminine talents. His journal entry will reflect this.

The tool can pull out any NPCs lines as long as you know their voice code. Not hard to find. Companions, Narrator, Isobel and Nightsong are already there for you to pick. Not surprised about the latter, Asians are based.

And then the googly eyes she makes at her (in that most cliche way) when Alfira says bg city is beautiful, and Lakrissa a stares at Alfira and agrees.

Any how i think I'll leave them in. They aren't openly gay and not megaphoning to the world about it, and keeping it mostly unsaid is how they would have existed in a medieval era.

I had no plans to change the companions. I like them all.

I didn't reach much into their other interactions, but I admit I didn't interact them a lot
Alfira's quest, and maybe some interactions with Alfira as a bard, since there are nice dialogues with her if you're a fellow Bard

They were reunited so I get it - they didn't care for the whole team is watching their proclamations of love
I would've done the same with my bf

But Aylin is an insufferable beacon of modern female character writing
And is willing to share horny details later in the camp in a casual conversation, which is obnoxious TMI

I might give Shadowheart, Karlach and Lazz a chance one day, just for the sake of achievments
Yeah I frequent women hating megathread, but that doesn't mean I'm not rational, and knowing Larian - I'm sure they are well written
