I sent them our thread and it resulted in a pretty long discussion where I think we made them consider changing it. I think Shawn is planning to do a stream about it at some point. Nick we bookmarked the thread and we are on their radar now.

MnM is basically EverQuest 3. They are describing EQ there. One of the devs even worked on a few EQ expansions.

Raids were always awful tho, they were a last minute addition and ended up ruining the genre forever.

Both are about as much fun as a penectomy, having done 10 hour raids on a daily basis and camped one of the last pair of jboots to drop from Najena in the wee hours of the morning before patches.

Reading more into monsters and nostalgia farming doesn't have me enthused. Slow strategic gameplay sounds like some midwit reddit description. It's not a turn-based grind fest like xcom so what could they mean?

Mez/sheep/CC 3 of the mobs and auto attack the last one to death is not strategic

AFAIK that's not actually happening. Terrifying concept though. The scenario you're describing is why we left Shoutbox for Turtle Zone, and maybe even why this forum was created in the first place.

It's not meant to be a 1-to-1 copy, the devs are aware of the problems EQ gameplay had. All classes have something to do in combat afaik.

For the rest, I think FF XI is a great example of making a fun combat system with slow, deliberate real-time combat where you don't feel pressure to up your APMs to Korean levels. EQ2 did it as well to a lesser extent.

I hate to post an Extra Credits video, but yes, EQ was almost a national emergency in it's day. EQ addiction was very real. This fag suffered from it even worse than me.
