I'm glad the priests here are not dressing up like clowns or sanctify gay marriages (yeah, I'm against gay marriage in religious context. Only civil is what I support, unless Jesus Christ Himself comes down and allows it).
Also, the common narrative is that faith played big role in defeating communism here imposed upon us (with John Paul II playing the largest role in that, back in the days he was known as Karol Wojtyła), and the church is still a place for many families to meet in a bigger group (if not Mass, then weddings, christening, First Communion, funerals etc).
