@FloSharChosen, I have not changed Cazador because he's a major character. I avoided changing major characters. As for the cinematic characters, I do not know how to locate them in the files. The method I used to locate other characters was to input their names into the localization file and use the code there to locate them in the visual files.

@Ryoohki, thank you!

@Yavetal, thank you, as well!

SniperChris, thanks for this excellent mod! Without it, Act 3 induces severe Paris syndrome.

Hello! Thanks for your efforts make the game more suitable to the description of "medieval fantasy". Is your modification compatible with other localizations (except English)?

If not using the English version of the game, you don't need to use my localization file. It changes the names of a few Flaming Fist guards I changed from female to male and changes two of the :eyebrows: love letters in the game.

If changes are so little may be i can adopt your changes to other languages? I don't familiar with the Baldurs Gate 3 modding, but if you tell me how, i can try.

It is possible to modify the portraits - I just don't know how.
Don't know how much help this comment is going to be, but I remember reading that users had a similar issue with that one mod that changes Minthara's face, to which one of the users replied that the portrait changed when she levels up.

I imagine the game generates the portraits based on the in-game model.

I plastered this onto my BG III experience, and it's pretty good. The writing is still ****, but, at least, everything looks as it should.

Much appreciated.

I will explain how I made the changes to the English file - but I must stress that I do not know if the other languages work exactly the same. I am only assuming they do, as I did not make any changes to any other languages.

You will need the LSLib Converter Tool and the BG3 Modders Multi Tool.

Use the Multi Tool to unpack and decompress the localization file, which is named as [Language].pak. For example, I edited English.pak.

This will produce a folder titled [Language]/Localization/[Language]. Once again, for English it's English/Localization/English. Inside this last [Language] folder, you will find two files - one titled [language].xml and [language].loca. If you don't use the LSLib Converter tool to convert the [language].loca file into a [language].xml file.

They are identical, but saved as different file types. You can edit the .xml file using Notepad++, then save it and reconvert it into a .loca file.

Once you've done so, use the LSLib Converter tool to repackage the [Language] folder. You will use the tool to "Create Package", selecting the first [Language] folder. If you were editing the English file, you would be repackaging this folder: English/Localization/English. Title the repackaged file as [Language].pak.

Once that's done, move your new .pak file to Baldur's Gate 3/Data/Localization.

Great mod and exceptional work. I noticed that there's an african Tiefling at the inn in act 2. Are Tieflings with visibly Negroid features found in DND canon?

This is how they were implemented in Planescape: Torment.

It's hard to say, but just like most things created from Tolkien-esque ideas, things are more-or-less derivate from the Caucasian phenotype.

I guess you could make a Tiefling out to have a black person's features, if one of said Tiefling's parents was of colour. Problem is: Tolkien was white. Making stories and worlds for white people. The thought never crossed his mind.

If, say... a black person, would decide to start writing at the level of Tolkien, I guess the art representing said black person's writing would reflect that.

I don't know what else to type. It's safe to assume they had a baseline of Caucasian features.

Tieflings received an in-lore makeover in 4E (and 5E?) that completely disconnects them from their 2E/Planescape origins.
As far as I understand, a tiefling with black features would be as common as a human with black features in the same area.

I did not touch the Tieflings because they are supposed to have at least one infernal ancestor in recent history. A demon in hell could technically be from anywhere and look anyhow.

I was introduced to this site via a twitter comment while trying to find mods that got banned from Nexus. Thank you so much for all your efforts and everyone else to make improvements to BG3 and other games.

As far as im concerned, a single player game allows me to make / install whatever modifications I **** well feel like and given all the questionable mods on Nexus, i'm reminded of people living in glass houses should learn to shut the F up.

I look forwards to seeing how all these excellent mods evolve and seeing this site grow.

Yea it's pretty funny that I was given a suspension for calling someone who made a rape mod a "weird freak" but a mod that alters a few NPCs appearance needs to be wiped from existance according to the admins.
Bonus points for the moderator who suspended me being named "Jannifer" btw lmfao.

Games released in 1999, which means that the game was in development at least 3 years, what did you what from 3D graphics of middle nineties?

Because there weren't any other way to make 3D model of medieval armor. Also look closely, he's literally wearing pieces of metal tied to his body, not solid armor.

It's a version on the art that was in the sourcebooks from TSR, and that art was just like that, but worse.
