Which is... not fine, but understandable. The playerbase has inflicted this reputation on itself. A jab here or there is expected, should be expected. But it's gotten worse since it launched on Steam.

It was a joke.

It would appear that Genshin Impact's 6.0 expansion has been announced, and it will not be the 7th nation of Snezhnaya, but be some new region called Nod Krai. It has a lineup of a dozen Wuthering Waves rejects to last several months, so it can't just be a patch or two. I wonder why the devs are diverging from their 7 chapter story outline they laid out way back when. Maybe they are trying to stall and pad out the time until they reach the ending. Wonder if they will have the Traveler acquire any new abilities in 6.0 if it's not Cryo powers.
No such thing as a coincidence. Star Rail devs are giga Fate weebs
miHoYo is weebs all the way down. The mi in the company name is a reference to Hatsune Miku and their slogan is 'tech otakus save the world'.
I remember they had the slogan front and center back when I played Honkai Impact 3rd. Kinda endearing. Do they still have it on their other games' startup screens?

No idea. I only read about it on Wikipedia.

I’ve been playing Lego Star Wars on my phone. It’s exquisite.

It was front and center when I applied to work for them earlier this year.

Star Rail might have the single most unappealing mascot I've seen in a gacha. Little furry **** just makes me wanna kick it when I get bad pulls

I love Pom Pom. I wrote on the last survey that I wanted to see more of him (along with Welt and Himeko).

I have to say, Lego Star Wars was quite fun when I was younger. I'm glad it's still going

I hate hours long server maintenance. Arena Net did the world a disservice by patenting the idea of keeping up servers for people to continue playing the old/current version of a game on while other servers are patched and go up so that you can quit and patch your game and immediately play again as soon as those are up.
The new character of Hysilens feels disappointing following Phainon and his transformation, the reality marble with the apocalyptic hellscape, his spectacular moon drops and colossal sword swings, etc. She seems to just have one cutscene animation with the whale and it does a rather weak swallow. The whale Lost Art from Kuro 2 felt like it had some weight.

I'm not sure why they would patent something so ******. Let me tell you about an even older piece of tech, from back in the days of MUDs: You didn't even have to log out or quit. When the servers were patched, it was just BAM, instantly patched, with only the announcement that the game would briefly pause for a second while the patch went online. You could be fighting some ******, the game could patch IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIGHT, and aside from a brief 5 second hiccup, you would just keep right on fighting that ******.
But developers are talentless hacks these days, so this has apparently become lostech.

► HSR 4.X 2026 anniversary character leak
The leaks say that next year's anniversary unit will be a rehash of Yae Miko. I wonder if she will have the same level animation quality as Castorice and Phainon, and if she will be a support character. With the way this game works, there are lots of DPS characters but you can only really fit 1 or maybe 2 of them onto your team. For the other 2 or 3 slots, you want a healer and 1 or 2 buffers (or maybe a debuffer). But only the DPS units that fight get glamourized. Getting a new spectacular DPS character doesn't do anything if that slot is already full, especially if it is already filled by a spectacular DPS character. It'd be interesting to see a support with Castorice/Phainon level visual quality, but as a support and thus able to better fit in. Maybe she will have a big fox transformation like the Netherwing.
You and your weeb ****. What the hell does that even mean? Only two of those are real words and neither one has any meaning when used together with the other two.
This requires a little bit of a history lesson.
► A short history of Mihoyo
Liu Wei, Cai Haoyu, and Lu Yuhao. Now billionaires.
Mihoyo was founded by three college students: Liu Wei (aka Da Wei), Cai Haoyu, and Luo Yuhao. They named their first game engine Misato, after the character from Evangelion. They formed a company and decided to name it Hoyo, taken from the first letters of Haoyu and Yuhao's names. The O was added because many famous tech companies like Google, Facebook, and Yahoo had Os in their name. When they went to register their company, they found out Hoyo had already been taken, so they added Mi to it and named it Mihoyo.
Misato from Evangelion
Their first game was FlyMe2theMoon, named after the Evangelion ending song. Unfortunately, it was a buy to play game in China where piracy was rampant (for various reasons, namely that the CCP would alternate between banning and legalizing foreign consoles, and restricted the number of foreign games that could be published in China each year. So Chinese gamers had become accustomed to simply sidestepping this nonsense and just pirating), so it did not help Mihoyo very much. So their next game, Houkai Gakuen (themed after Highschool of the Dead) was made into a live service game so that it could not be pirated (pretty much what almost all of the other Chinese game devs were doing). Houkai in Japanese means "collapse" or "decay", and Gakuen means "academy" (because the devs were still students). The titular Houkai are the enemy mobs you fight and supernatural in nature, causing apocalypses. The game did well.
Mihoyo reinvested their money and made a better sequel, Houkai Gakuen 2, which did better. Then they reinvested their money again and made an even better game named Honkai Impact 3rd. Mihoyo dropped the Gakuen because they weren't students anymore. HI3 was Mihoyo's darling game, where they created characters that they fell in love with and have been creating rehashes/expies of those characters for their next games Genshin and HSR. Raiden Shogun and Yae Miko from Genshin, Acheron and Phainon from HSR, etc, are rehashes/expies/alternate universe versions of HI3 characters. Houkai was changed to Honkai. The Impact part is another Evangelion reference (that show takes place in the aftermath of a calamity called Second Impact, which was caused by supernatural beings and wiped out most of the Earth, and the imminent threat of a Third Impact).
Mihoyo's next game was Genshin Impact. Genshin means "original god". The immdiete plot of each arc has you interact with the "god" of that arc's region, called an Archon, and there is a greater overarching plot about overthrowing gods in the floating island of Celestia who are responsible for the state of the Genshin world. And Mihoyo carried over the "Impact" name from HI3 to retain continuity.
Then they made a fourth Houkai/Honkai game, Honkai Star Rail. Same story revolving around supernatural calamities (this time called Stellarons instead of Houkai). The "Star Rail" part refers to the main party's vehicle, the Astral Express (inspired by the Galaxy Express 999 anime). It appears that by default, most vessels in the HSR setting are incapable of interstellar travel. The Astral Express was created by a man who ascended and became a god named Akivili to discover new worlds, and open up tears in the fabric of space that allow people who follow in the Express' wake to travel to other worlds. This path is called the Star Rail. The first few arcs have you retrace the Astral Express' path to established worlds, but the current arc has you go off grid into uncharted territory to establish the Star Rail there.
In the background codex lore, Genshin and HSR actually all take place in the same overall universe of the Imaginary Tree in HI3. Alternate universe/rehashes of HI3 characters appear in Genshin and HSR. HSR is also somewhat of a sequel to HI3, with an actual character (Welt) from HI3 having travelled across universes to HSR after the ending of HI3.
Mihoyo's latest game, Zenless Zone Zero, has been declared by Mihoyo to have zero connection to the Honkaiverse whatsoever. No similar names, no character rehashes/expies, no shared far background setting of the Imaginary Tree, etc. They do share the same overall story idea of the game taking place in the wake of an apocalypse.
