Listen, balance is good, even in single player games. If there's a skill, faction, weapon etc. that invalidates all others, then the game is badly designed and often lacks challenge. HoMM3 is abysmally balanced, which actually makes it an awful strategy game, where you either break the game or get broken back, causing you suffering for no reason. I suppose that last part is why the game's so popular with Easterlings.
