Youtube Sisters I don't feel so good..

https://drhyperion451.github.io/does-uBO-bypass-yt/

My Element Filter still works btw Rusty lying again.. but it was a little annoying because they insert a .noscroll attribute, so you can watch the video perfectly fine but can't view comments unless you fullscreen the video then minimize it again. It's bearable.. but why bother - there's better extensions.

My 1337-no-scope element blocker HAX is a good plan-B for when UO filters are out of date..

Now it's just a cat and mouse game. Google Updates detection, UO community updates bypass. Assuming it works - haven't tried UO fully myself yet.

The home team always wins because the client owns the DOM. Even if google starts enabling video timeouts until ads finish, I'll sit there happily watching a blank screen for 30 seconds.

Sorry Globo Glowies.

I wonder why Google suddenly started doing this.. hmm......
YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki is stepping down after nine years in the role.

YouTube's chief product officer, Neal Mohan, will take over as head of the Google-owned video platform.

Hmm..

There are echoes here and there that YouTube may or may not violate EU's privacy laws.
We will see how it goes, but as much as I'm familiar with the laws - there is a case to made here
For instance, detection of adblocks on user's device is not a part of necessary consent under those laws.

But I can't say for sure how strong it is and how YT will or would bypass it

Hopefully something will come out of this.

Note: in order to have it work correctly, you need to disable your normal AdBlocker for YouTube and probably delete all YouTube site data and cookies before it will start implementing correctly.

They know they'll lose to us continually. The real target are the dumb-ass normies that are always months behind. They hope to get them to give up. Many already have, the dolts.

I clicked one button in uBO settings last week. Nothing else. People in this thread seem to be making it more difficult for themselves for some reason.

Unless you're completely opposed to the idea of learning a new way to use your computer, I see little reason to not begin migrating to lunix at this point. Most things just werk, stories of incompatibility are from years past.
I exclusively use lunix and regularly play the latest games, for example.
It's not a matter of if you'll migrate, but merely when you get fed up enough to migrate.

Unless they are backdooring chrome - they can't actually detect if you have an adblocker.
They can only detect if the content they served your DOM never executed / ran. It's client self-reporting though which is why adblockers will always win.

The phased rollout purely changes the outcome / penalty for a flagged ad blocker.

It has nothing to do with the detection logic itself. If you aren't detected in Phase 1, you aren't detected in Phase 4. Try reading posts.

i've been using just uBlock Origin. they updated their filters to block the youtube anti-ad, however youtube continually updates their anti-ad system so you have to go into the UBO options and "purge cache" first, then click on "update now".

usually about 1 once a week or so, at least so far. recommended to reset UBO to default state if you have it installed, and clear your browser cookies/cache as well, then relaunch the browser. Check UBO reddit as well for updates on their filter lists. As things are right now default UBO should block youtube anti-ad, and if you get the message then just 'purge cache' and 'update now'.

It's only a matter of time before someone creates a "UBO Cache Updater" extension to automate this.

I haven't purged my cache in UO for 2ish weeks and it still works flawlessly. No need for element blocking or redirects.

A few notes:
- Other plugins / ad blockers will flag you, so you shouldn't use anything besides UO if your relying on it
- Youtube is flagging accounts with a cookie, so clear those

TL;DR - What aweigh said basically.

It would be easier for UO to just add it themselves when they detect your local cache is stale.
