Love all the effort they put into making camping environments for so many different areas, EA only had the forest area.
There's even an environment for camping in cellars, try it out.

I decided if in 2 weeks Rusty is still playing and posting at least 6 times per day about Bear Gender Tree I will buy this game.

The game is pretty good and I was someone who gave it a negative review in EA before the bear sex cutscene.

I have a lot to criticize about it, I especially hate the act system. The game is closer to D:OS2 in Forgotten Realms than a DnD game. Not enough friendly FAI/Beregost style villages to explore. Companions go from serviceable to cringe.

Other than that I struggle to find anything wrong with it. If you don't play a little ***** boy who tries to suck ****, you don't see that content at all.. It's so easy to just kill anything you want.

Tbh I genuinely think there's a very good game here. Don't get me wrong. I'm terribly torn on the issue. I'm personally so invested into the history of D&D and what is being done to its remains that I currently wouldn't be able to enjoy whatever good gameplay there is. I know myself well enough I think.

I'm waiting for people to give their final verdict to decide if I want to buy or pirate this, the latter I'd do purely to avoid supporting degeneracy mind you. It's also true that in 2023 Larian gave a lesson on game design to all the AAA liveservicegachawithlootrandomizerboxers by giving their customers a fuckhuge sp game with no additional costs attached. They deserve their credit for this, render unto Caesar and all that jazz.

tl:dr I'll clear my backlog and think about this when I'm in a better headspace than I'm currently in

I'm not even sure why it's broken up into acts, I can go back to act 1 areas after starting act 2.
I think people who were part of act 1 just 'move on' tho

This is pretty much my only complaint so far.
But the world is dense, there's a lot to discover/explore.

Especially a lot of vertical exploration.

Non-companion writing ranges from good to great imo. Companions tend to be pretty cringe, especially male ones which are DA2-tier.

OH, so it's fine when Larian does it but when the based Cypriots do the same then the game is pozz and cringe. I see how it is.

I wanted the ultravision and I wanted to see how racist people would be to me as a Drow. The answer is not really. Lots of people make surprised comments about my race, but that's about it. No one has refused to speak to me and I doubt I'm going to be locked out of any content, which is gay. Everyone is treated as an individual and they are obviously pussyfooting and going out of their way to not portray any kind of fantasy racism. It's pretty disappointing.

I didn't know this. That's a +1 for the game if true.

I still prefer a flat open world.. sounds like they are using acts just to limit your progress forward vs locking off old areas then.
D:OS 2 was the worst for this.. just kicking you around island to island was so annoying. Replaying D:OS1 I forgot how much I missed being able to go wherever the **** I want.

I know you're a ******** shitposter so I'll just respond for any illustrious readers who are lurking.

I've been very consistent on this.

Larian gives you complete agency in what you wanna do and much like real life they put things in their world that you encounter and will either love / hate / want to immediately stab to death and everything in between.

This is different from other "RPG's" where you have some lame-*** pozzed mary-sue-xer self-insert with plot armor that is constantly thrown in your face, unkillable, and demands you engage with them because the writers would find it problematic to do anything else but bow before their majesty.

What kind of jewish trick is this now? Larian's own marketing shows that that's a primary audience they are catering to. Several people have commented on the vampire being pushed on you early. The "you don't have to play those parts" is too little, after the fact argumentation. It's already there.

In addition to those things, rusty said he got a scolding for killing a demon who - gasp - was good acktually. I am now sick of these developers either not understanding or deliberately deconstructing was is good (or even normal) vs what is evil.

In some ways, it's too late. BG3 is the most played PC game in at least a decade. So the things they've pushed in their advertising ARE the things we'll be seeing from now on. This is a watershed moment and unless something really drastic changes things, I don't think we're ever going to see another RPG without those elements.

Haven't played the game so can't comment on its quality but I agree. BG3 is to CRPGs what WoW was to MMOs. Expect dozens of clones for the next 5 years at least. In the case of WoW, I would argue that it ultimately killed the genre.

I wouldn't expect that at all. DOS 1 and 2 were already major successes, especially compared to their competition and yet there aren't any clones out there.

The game does not punish or reprimand you in any way for burning things in fire.. NPC's who like your super squee goth tiefling may whine if you cut her in half though - k' and? The narrator makes zero moral assertions that I've seen (so far), they always sorta go "Are you sure you wanted to do that.. what will happen next" kinda ****. It's all tongue in cheek IMO.

As for how annoying this Tiefling is.. I'm struggling to see how she is any different from Neeshka in NWN2.. honestly.
The "LOLOLOL I'm Such a happy-go-lucky thiefer.." is a 20 year old trope in DnD at this point, you guys missed your chance to ***** about this years ago - at least we can kill her in this game.

Enjoy Baldur Goyslop 3. :eyebrows:
