I was planning but then I saw that PVP is basically unavoidable in endgame.

I dont really see anything special about this game except for the Dune theme. Its another Conan but this time they started wo single player mode to generate more sales. Im pretty sure single player will be added later.

There is 'single player', if you're willing to pay2win. There won't be any player-hosted versions because the server software is too complex(requires a multi-server distributed setup.)

It's basically the FO76 model

Thats not single player, thats private servers. Single player is like in Conan - press play solo and thats it. Keep listening to that bs they tell you about some structure and bla bla bla. Its just money dude. They want people to buy it.

I got that directly from a senior engineer who works for Funcom.

As in, that's probably not in a single article about the game anywhere(I didn't bother to check, might be!)

What’s important to note is that while a Hagga Basin server can support 40 people playing concurrently,

**** THAT IS MASSIVE

Now I'm wondering how the PvE players would react if the NPCs were programmed to behave like players, calling you a noob and teabagging your corpse after ganking you in a farming zone.

I'm not sure why this is surprising at all, when this also exists in real life. Bases in real life are ALSO constructed to block paths: Look at every historical military fortification, ever. All of them were created for the explicit purpose of blocking paths. It's only in the modern day that military bases stopped being placed to block paths.

Honestly, it was expected considering the combination of:
... the PvE'ing masses have finally reached the endgame tier of resources in the PvP enabled Deep Desert
and
... consecutive patches that broke a few things.

It is what it is, though. I think the more interesting thing is how many people leaving the game know that their base and (non-banked) materials are going to be gone in a few weeks unless they check in and re-up their power and taxes. Those are the tears I'm ready to see.

I played for a while, but ultimately dropped it and prob won't go back until after the game has released all its content or allows local servers. With the way that the base taxation system and power work, players are actively punished for NOT playing. And I don't care enough to babysit in-game systems.

They did this because they couldn't afford the cost of allowing your presence in any of their games. Let in one mendacious ******** ****, suddenly you have a million.

I played secret World for the story, it was pretty good. But while playing it all I could think is how it would be much better as a solo/coop game
