The Swapper is not "about" depression. Some of the themes might be depressing since it's a sci-fi puzzle game involving cloning/transferring consciousness.
It does say "touches on it with certain characters". It looks like one of them is a depressed alcoholic.agentorange wrote: ↑ October 7th, 2023, 04:45I haven't played Stardew Valley but I have a hard time believing it's about depression, maybe one character in the game at some point mentions being sad so it ended up on a reddit list of "depressing games" that the bot scraped.
So, the list is basically every game that has a character that feels sad about something?Acrux wrote: ↑ October 7th, 2023, 05:22It does say "touches on it with certain characters". It looks like one of them is a depressed alcoholic.

Think it's more to do with 'retro' stuff in general.
Yes, one of the characters works at walmart and hates his life, he copes by hard drinking and during his friend quest he tries to kill himself and you save him.agentorange wrote: ↑ October 7th, 2023, 04:45The Swapper is not "about" depression. Life is Strange also isn't about depression.

Well the game did sell like a billion copies and made the sole (I think) developer a millionaire overnight.
