I've only played a few turns as Imrik because I've been too busy or too tired to really get into the game.

This is a general RTS/strategy trend. In the historical scene, you commonly witness the game developers see success and then pivot immediately to a Indian/Chinese expansion/DLC, despite the core audience being there for cool European content. Even Age of Empires 2 has taken this turn, focusing so much on oriental content instead of just giving us Crusader content that would be far more interesting and actually fit the core units and mechanics the game was designed around.

It's honestly bizarre how ******** strategy developers can be sometimes.

It's not even about appealling to the Chinese (they mostly want exotic foreign European fantasy content; just look at any Chinese MMO).

It's about showing off how well-educated they are that they have internalized the bienpensant "India and China were highly civilized bastions of technology while Europeans were scrabbling in the dirt" narrative.

Oh great they added Lore of Life to Cathay and made the faction way more generic. The devs seem determined to turn the game into Warcraft 1 by removing every factions weaknesses.
"Nurgle is an extremely slow-moving, tanky, regenerating faction? Oh, I know, lets make the game better by giving them fast cavalry!"
"Slaanesh is an extremely fragile, fast-moving, melee glass dagger faction? Oh, I know, lets make the game better by giving them tanky frontline heavy infantry!"

Once TWW3 stops getting new content I'm going to make a mod that removes half the DLC units and a few of the base game units, thus improving the game x10.

Do you actually hate oriental cultures in general or just the cartoony aesthetic of anime specifically? Because there are cool oriental themed miniatures that would slight right into Warhammer.

I don't HATE, all oriental ****, i'm just so sick of it showing up unwarranted, especially with the whole 'ummm akshually fantasy chyna did x but better and earlier'

that and the way they depicted Cathay in TWWH3 was incredibly lame and sterilized. if they had portrayed them in a more gritty manner (like in those pics you linked) it would've at least been a little more tolerable. instead they're just clean, mary-sue **** that **** on the whole setting

Playing 40k Dawn of War has got me more interested in the genre. Since Total War is the big boy of them (to my knowledge), and there's a 40k game on the way, I want to try this one.

(I'm a total Warhammer noob btw).

Am I right in saying that I need to own all three Warhammers in order to play as all the races? I want to play Skaven (they give me Redwall and Secret of Nimh vibes), but they're only in the second one.

Buying a third party 3-in-1 key and then unlocking all of the DLC with CreamAPI was the way to do it when I played a few years ago.

Nice call. Was about to pay £32.50 on Steam when it's just 13.99 on Loaded. Been a while since I bought from them since there were some claims about their codes being illegitimate.

As for CreamAPI, that's a new one for me. I'll need to investigate :scratch-pipe:
