I realise this is as obvious as stating water is wet, yet it's incredible how they "oppose" the sloppification and rampent greed of gaming by partaking in the resulting corporate program that ensures this state continues to exist. One thing is obvious and clear, DEI and other initiatives are not going away. People who peddled this lie that we are entering into the decline period of "woke" are completely delusional, there has been no signs of this stopping. This is the intended trajectory and operational status of liberalism. Sometimes I feel this entire entertainment sphere deserves its misery for the amount of insanity it tolerates.

It's an unfortunate reality that the ones that invested everything and more into DEI aren't suddenly going to stop just because public sentiment is finally turning against them.

They're just going to be far more subtle about it and will adopt a slower approach. If they were willing to grind for the sake of their ideology the last +20 years, some of them are willing to grind another 20 more.

The only thing we can realistically do is not support the **** they do, support the few developers who make genuinely good stuff, and encourage others to do the same.

Listing the Metal Gear Solid translation that got him kicked out of the MGS translation team is borderline socially stunted.

Here’s another example, this time from Snake. Let me ask you which option sounds better:
A) “I’m just a guy who can only find meaning on the battlefield.”

You can probably guess that B is mine, and A is how my translation was “improved” for Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes.

This line is so important to Solid Snake's entire character and the ****** missed that. The reason why he wanted to create Outer Heaven, the entire theme of memes in MGS1, its all tied to Snake being a man who "can only find meaning on the battlefield".
He thought it was just a line that's meant to sound cool and troonlated it to a cool action hero line.

And one more, from Psycho Mantis:
A) “This is the first time … I’ve ever used my power to help someone. It’s strange … such a … nostalgic feeling.”
B) “This is the first time … I’ve ever used my power to help someone. It’s strange … it feels … kind of … nice.”

Naturally, B is mine; I removed the word “nostalgic,” a direct translation from the Japanese, because people who are feeling nostalgic don’t normally say they are feeling nostalgic when they describe their emotions. We interpret other people as feeling nostalgic, but it’s rarely how we describe ourselves.
But both lines mean the same thing, more or less. Does it seem like I was being less faithful to the original by trying to find words that felt more natural to Western audiences?

No they don't mean the same thing you autistic ******. Second one makes it sound like Psycho Mantis did something good for the first time in his entire life, which is wrong, also plenty of people describe themselves as nostalgic.
