Unrecorded - Ultrarealistic bodycam footage FPS

Post by Segata »

Despite being vaporwave and most likely rendered "gameplay", normalfaggots are losing it because it's too realistic:

20 years of realistic military shooters but this is where they draw the line. Also it's problematic because uuuhh cops and ACAB or something. You can read the twitter replies for a full display of mental illness.

Game is currently looking for backers and investment, aiming for a 2024 release. It will probably never be released specially if there's a moral outrage around it.

I find it amusing how the public opinion on this topic is the complete opposite of what the data actually says.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30275306/
To clarify and quantify the influence of video game violence (VGV) on aggressive behavior, we conducted a metaanalysis of all prospective studies to date that assessed the relation between exposure to VGV and subsequent overt physical aggression. The search strategy identified 24 studies with over 17,000 participants and time lags ranging from 3 months to 4 years. The samples comprised various nationalities and ethnicities with mean ages from 9 to 19 years. For each study we obtained the standardized regression coefficient for the prospective effect of VGV on subsequent aggression, controlling for baseline aggression. VGV was related to aggression using both fixed [β = 0.113, 95% CI = (0.098, 0.128)] and random effects models [β = 0.106 (0.078, 0.134)]. When all available covariates were included, the size of the effect remained significant for both models [β = 0.080 (0.065, 0.094) and β = 0.078 (0.053, 0.102), respectively]. No evidence of publication bias was found. Ethnicity was a statistically significant moderator for the fixed-effects models (P ≤ 0.011) but not for the random-effects models. Stratified analyses indicated the effect was largest among Whites, intermediate among Asians, and nonsignificant among Hispanics. Discussion focuses on the implications of such findings for current debates regarding the effects of violent video games on physical aggression.
Do video game publishers just have very good PR teams? It is the largest entertainment medium, I suppose.

It's okay to think video games shouldn't be censored and they probably increase aggression in children. Maybe parents should be parents and stop buying little timmy copies of 'pig smoker 3000'.

FPS games have been quite realistic for years so I doubt realism is the main aspect of the game making *Trainwreck* *literally uncomfortable* and suddenly *concerned* about the children. For people like him, the main thing that makes this game different from others in giving "real credibility to the nonsense politicians have been spewing for years" is that the environment in this game is familiar to him, unlike games set on the other side of the planet where you massacre dune coons by the hundreds, the experience of which apparently isn't uncomfortable and absolutely can't exacerbate violent thoughts of players.

I think it looks cool if it is even real; at least people are trying something new.
That said it also looks unplayable, who can endure such wobbly shakiness? In real life your brain autocorrects your headwobble and so it doesn't feel like you are on a boat the entire time, but in a game...

Kane and Lynch 2 tried to go for a somewhat similar aesthetic. Gritty and sleazy environments, shaky cam in the vein of found footage/amateur youtube films, fake compression artifacts and "old digital camera" filters.

Maybe they're afraid it might actually portray how difficult being a cop can be requiring sub-second reactions to life and death situations?
