Thought I'd get this out of the way now. You've got 14 days to vote.
I purchase most of my RPGs on GOG, where I can get the installing files. And so I am not going to vote for something I probably won't use much.
I like the Elon Musk Twitter more than I like the previous one. Is the new Twitter perfect? No. But I would like to see this place there.

Who would run the twitter account and for what purpose?

Right after I made this the Rizon IRC network went down. Curious!

Rather the HQ make a Furaffinity account than a Twitter one.

Either I would, or I'll delegate it to someone non-controversial.
Presumably to increase HQ's internet presence and reach.and for what purpose?
Reach bad. Isolationism Good.
No reason to have a twitter account, no one would read it anyway.
I wonder if publishing reviews and lists help much for increasing internet presence. I found the Codex while looking for reviews and lists of old games about ten years ago.

There's not really a collective opinion here so I don't see the point in having social media for the HQ when ultimately it will end up being one person's soapbox unless it's only used for newsposting. Now, hosting reviews on the HQ itself, that sounds cool.
I'll do it!WhiteShark wrote: ↑ April 4th, 2023, 03:37HQ when ultimately it will end up being one person's soapbox
We need: Reviews.
We need: RPGHQ's top 101 RPGs (on which Twitcher 3, D:OS 2 and Disco Elysium (which isn't an RPG) won't have a place, and thereby it'll be infinitely better than the Cuckdex's list)
Both should preferably be done on the HQ instead of an external site.
Social media is gay, also.

Top 101 RPGHQs: Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Skyrim VR...
And it'd still be better than the list Larian shills and commies came up with.

What I'd be interested in is redundancy. I.e. when the beast system, digital ID, whatever is implemented that we have several venues to contact Dexers to rebuild.
Like some P2P services, Steam is probably a good idea, anyway, IRC, etc etc.
I am never on Steam but you can add me if you want. My steam nick is Gourmengele.

It looks like we'll probably end up with a Steam group at the current trend. I'd like to eventually work on better integration of the IRC into the site itself via The Lounge. But it's not anywhere near the top of my list as a hotlink to kiwiirc web client works… well enough for now, I guess.
Over half of the votes are for no social media presence. @rusty_shackleford says, "well, it looks like we're going to have a Steam group". I love American elections.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ April 6th, 2023, 16:08It looks like we'll probably end up with a Steam group at the current trend.

pro-Steam votes were trending up, so if it continues it will likely surpass 'No'.Acrux wrote: ↑ April 6th, 2023, 17:29Over half of the votes are for no social media presence. @rusty_shackleford says, "well, it looks like we're going to have a Steam group". I reserve the right to do whatever, but I try to listen to the community on any actions I take in my role as admin. Rusty the poster is not the same as Rusty the admin.
I haven't even voted in the poll, I'm indifferent to the results.

No twitter presence, but do make a steam group. I want friends, and I want them to hold me accountable for playing shit games.

'No' it is, thanks for voting everyone.
Fuck the poll. If you want this place to grow the inconvenient truth is that you're going to have to advertise. You can't feed off of the crumbs from the codex table forever. New users doesn't necessarily mean bad users. They can be incorporated and moulded into the HQ culture. Advertise, Rusty. Expand!

We're already way ahead of the curve in terms of activity given how young the HQ is. I am pleased with the HQ's progress so far.
If I ask for public opinion like this then simply disregard it, I will get less feedback in the future because people will (correctly!) assume their input is worthless anyways.

Moulding newcomers is easier when they come in a trickle rather than a torrent, anyway.

Missed the vote but for what it's worth i'd have been in the no camp.
Steam groups and such are fine I guess but advertising on twitter is time consuming busywork and what sort of audience do you expect to pull from there anyways making generic toothless twits that won't be reflective of the forum itself? Hell if we have to go the advertisment route, some place like 4chan seems more appropriate as whilst you will get an influx of trolls and people wanting to push boundaries when it comes to the current relaxed ruleset (we will get at least one dude flooding us with CP that's for sure) it will also draw people who likely fit in better.
But yeah my impression was this forum didn't care about some bs notion of success or having some sort of sales target to meet for the next quarter.
I know some people like to obsess over stats or are trying to push a competition with the codex and be like "hur dur only x posts every x hour, sooo dead!" but that mentality is poisonous and leads to nothing but self inflicted misery since there was never any explicit goal to make the hq a power house to rival resetera in terms of numbers of users.
