Mystery Solved. Shimmer ( Syllabub 'Shimmer' Fran ) is a male (bar/dancer/ performer) in blushing mermaid who's too busy getting drunk to actually perform. He's meant to be a siren(?). Or Perhaps its a made up exaggerated title as they do. Has anyone actually encountered him? I couldn't find him. I pulled him out using code. He looks like he's straight out of some Californian gay bar.
Image
Here are the entries I pulled out of the loca file:

1. "Shimmer the Siren's Show"

2. *Witness the charms of Shimmer the Siren for yourself. Will you blush like a mermaid?*

3. "Mr. Shimmer,
I've been to every one of your shows even though my dad says I'm too young for the Blushing Mermaid. You're the best performer I've ever seen in my whole life!

Could you please teach me how to dance? You won't have to do much, I'm already super good - I can do two cartwheels in a row! I'll help you do your makeup, wash your sparkly outfits, do your hair - whatever you need! I'll be the best student you ever had, on Ilmater's word! I'll be at your show later, I'm the girl with blonde curly hair (which I think would look great with one of your blue ribbons in it, I'm just saying!)
Lots of love, Mindi

4. Shimmer the AMAZING
[This excerpt from "The Gate's Pub Crawl Guide" suggests that more than one drink was imbibed during its writing.] Everyone goes on about the Elfsong - how iconic it is. How 'interesting' its ghost is. Well, BOO I say! I wish to have music! DRAMA! And I can't with a spirit jealous enough to stop any but itself performing. Therefore, it is with stupendous delight that I suggest many OTHER glorious boozing establishments! Take the Blushing Mermaid, where you can watch Shimmer the Siren dazzle the crowd, or simply enjoy its swashbuckling patrons sing shanties and beat one another into oblivion.

Or mayhaps you fancy a delightful venue with live music, and the most sour waitstaff you've ever met. If so, the Singing Lute is for you! Tucked away by the harbour, it's perfect for a romantic evening. If nothing else, Henk's delightful demeanour will make you grateful for your beloved.

EDIT: Forgot this one:
5. Shimmer, you are on your last damn chance. I am your manager, not your bloody understudy. I had to throw a wig on the other day and shake my arse like an eel in a frenzy - well, no more! We can't keep hoping the crowd is too drunk to notice my chest hair.

From now on, you're showing up sober and early. And if I catch so much as whiff of drink on you, you're out on your arse and Hank the Wobbler is taking your spot. SOBER, Shimmer - I mean it this time.
However, there remains another watering-hole. One that only the most daring, the most courageous of patrons go! Should you wish to test your mettle, and rub shoulders with the city's secret underbelly, I can only tell you this.
Enjoy the Guildhall...

Also something you should know. Nightsong probably was not meant to be a man. There is a nightsong "old" which is a female (not strong) model with different clothes. Also the head for the male nightsong is just Human male D (one of the ones available for us to select). Likely used for testing out male armour. 3d models of Nightsong's armor have been fitted and are available for every race and gender.

Just tested these for next release:
  • Removed Non-Binary option from Character Screen
  • Removed Tranny icon beside "Body Type"

Is there much left after the Nightsong changes? Also, all those edits and you still haven't noticed the typo in your signature.

I wonder if I should post it on Nexus to trigger some people once this is all done.
Dooooo iiiiiiiit! But use a burner account because they'll definitively ban you. Also include a link to this place. Without SniperChris putting a link to this website I never would've found this place.

Who known how many interesting mods I missed over the years because some shrill pink haired internet jannie declared them double plus ungood?

Ew. EW. Especially the "My dad says I'm too young" part. What is it with the kiddy grooming stuff in this game? Who put this in here? That would be incredibly suspicious even for a female singer.

Not sure if the character exists in-game (I think I would remember this neon-blue fashion abomination) but nuke it. Nuke it I say!

Ugh, I had this romantic notion of an old pirate lady falling for some entertainer and now I just feel dirty and ashamed. Is there a single normal straight romance in the game? (One that isn't dependent on player choice?)

Not sure if I can count Ketheric since he's not exactly my definition of normal but yeah, the tiefling couple counts! The reunion was surprisingly sweet.

It's sad that I actually need help remembering those.

Honestly, gay male dancers/performers have been a thing even before lgbtq became mainstream. They just keep their tendency under wraps. And that they give children dance lessons isn't so abnormal. In this case its a girl, anyway.

I also like to point out the sibling kinship that they put in with Rolan and them. Cleanest and most likable relationships in whole game.

I'm less upset about the gay aspect and more about the fact he looks like he was dipped in blue paint. Also, let's be honest for a second: A male siren would be a rather hard sell as a regular performer at a pirate bar.

If it was a bar catering to men interested in pretty boys? Fine. But the Blushing Mermaid supposedly caters to normal lower city clientele. I just don't see the blue haired twink being as popular as he's supposed to be.

Pretty sure he ain't a siren. They classically have blue/green/bright yellow skin in lore. this ones a regular dude with blue hair. Ima make him into a woman I guess, if he even exists! Will have to wait until I find him ingame otherwise his voice lines will clash with his aesthetics.

Oh, I meant his stage persona/title is "siren". Shimmer the Siren is probably something like a cover name.

The reason I thought it ridiculous is because siren are female and not, as you put it, regular dudes with blue hair. The priestesses of Umberlee do a better job passing as sirens than this dude.

I think yes.

If the code in the game is correct then that part actually isn't intended to be romanctic (somehow?) but the resolution to that scene determines if you go further.

Though how exactly engaging in an impromptu midnight dance with anyone isn't a romantic gesture is utterly beyond me. Whoever wrote that scene needs to study basic human interaction.

It's a good game, hobbled by a lethal injection of narratively and gameplay-wise worthless cringe and gay.

As orinEsque demonstrates the injection wasn't as lethal as advertised. Expert medical attention may save the patient yet. Gale's weird stargazing event... eh. Could be worse. Wyll's dancing thing is too weirdly romantic to be platonic though, which honestly makes him feel weirdly simp-y.

I still think it's hilarious that they made the black guy a weak, pussy whipped pushover. They wanted to go for suave, charming romantic classical hero and bungled the suavity and charm. Hilarious. It almost makes me want to create a stereotypical white blonde blue haired chad to stomp on his self-esteem at every opportunity. I could record it, call it the "Ruining Wyll's life" run, post it to certain sites and watch heads explode among the usual cries of rAyciSSS!!! If there was typical slave attire (chains or hell, I'd take a fucking harness) I'd slap that on him as well just for the extra insult.

In all seriousness, fixing Wyll as a character is beyond even the best modder's power.

I think the flags in this game don't respect gender at all, for any event involving the PC. Which is probably how the genderpolice originally got a foothold: By enabling lazy programmers.

There's also another thing you'd have to consider: Some scenes have to be triggered to progress with the companion quests at all (since they're approval gated).

Wrong. There are "DialogsBinary" folders in each act where specific dialogs have different lines based on He/she/mental ill (notice they called it binary then added 3 options. Even Larian knows its stupid. Basically it decides whether to call you Ma'am or sir. I don't see any easy way to include non binary dialogues into this file tho.

i legit thought we could pick Alfira as a companion, it made much sense to me. even though they made Wyll's backstory less cringe but still cringe, his afro voice and race (thank gods ArunnyE and orinEsque fixed one of those problems) kills the entire "noble suave knight" image, plus that underlying woke message that blacks are the sexiest and superior in all da world. And don't get me started how writers, or whoever ordered to write that mess, were juggling with his Noble/Folk Hero background unable to make their pick even after releasing the game.

Or they simply dropped the pretense after enough people gave them their money. Also, notice that most of this shit is in the last third of the game, which the vast majority of people are unlikely to encounter before writing a positive review.

For all we know those files could have been finished years ago. Larian received an email from WOTC or others about DEI and made adjustments after the fact. This also tracks considering most of the diverse NPCs have white VAs. Also why all the gay shit feels like a blunt object to the head, Larian were given an ultimatum and did the bear minimum.

I just got back to BG3 and I'm going to start playing in earnest this weekend. Just to be clear, I may be slightly retarded, so I just want to be sure of what I need to run the latest version of this and SniperChris' mod, knowing that you made at least one update of SniperChris' mod as well, but these threads are now at least 25 pages, and based on the OP's I'm not sure if they are continuously updated or not.

I need this download from the OP of this thread for No Alphabets 1.6, and this file from SniperChris' BBA thread, correct? Or is there a more recently updated and compatible version of SniperChris' BBA?

I absolutely love your work, by the way. Truly titanic.

You may want to wait till op finishes (de-)converting the last major character (Aylin) before starting.

Once orinEsque is done I (or someone else?) might start a threat to compilate a short FAQ on the mods so people can pick and choose what to install and where. Because we now have SniperChris' mod, the minimalist mod of that, AlbertHeinous' mod and orinEsque's work.

Just to forestall anyone installing conflicting mods.

I suspect we'll have ample time before we get anywhere near that character, so I'm not going to worry about it. We're probably getting started on friday, come hell or high water.
