Dragon Age Origins Modlist

Post by loregamer »

I want to play this game modded but don't want to mod it. Can someone possibly share their Mod Organizer 2 instance?

I tried to download a Wabbajack list prior but it was the most horrible, pozzed, DA2-styled slop downgrade ever

I don't use the Mod Organizer to mod Origins, but I can upload the Override folder that's full of mods I'm using, if you like.
The Override folder is only ~585MB and could be made smaller if I remove the armor retextures and weapon replacers. The vast majority of it is bugfixes that don't change the game from vanilla experience in major ways. The hundreds of .mor files are the NPC face replacements from the Dragon Age Redesigned Lore version.

The only other mods/fixes that don't go into the Override folder are the Quinn's bugfix pack that is using the .dazip format and is installed in 2-3 clicks using the DAO Mod Manager, and the 4 GB Patch that is installed in 2-3 clicks by itself.

DA-CharGenMorph_Compiler lets you add modded presets and hair and tattoos and stuff to the in-game character creator. If you don't any of the modded additions, you need to run it to automatically remove any bad references, otherwise the game will CTD when trying to start a new game.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Here's the archive with the Override folder along with the utilities like 4GB Patch and Mod Manager and CharGenMorph generator.
📥 dao mods.rar - 354 MB
Here's the Vanilla+ setup I used for my first replay this year. It contains only bugfixes and changed faces. No other visuals have been touched.
📥 vanilla plus override.rar - 46 MB

Drop the Override folder into Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age\packages\core.
To install the .dazip file, unpack and launch the DAO Mod Manager. There's a short process to set your .exe and folder paths, but then it's very simple. Drag and drop the .dazip file into the Mod Manager window. Then just right click -> Install on the file.

Thanks dude, override folder is even better than a MO2. Huge time saver this is

Can I safely add these on top or are they already included?

Origins Unbound is already in there, as is Dragon Age Redesigned.
The Skin Fix would not conflict with anything, because I haven't changed any skin tones.

If you don't like any mods, you can delete them from the Override folder. Almost all of the mod folders have names that state what they are. If you have any questions about what folder does what, just ask.

I'm looking through the list right now. The FTG_UIMOD folder might **** up your game because it needs to be installed as a .dazip first. It changes the UI to be bigger on higher resolutions so that it wouldn't look microscopic if you're playing at 4k.

Same with the Grey Warden Runic Armor Retexture. It needs a .dazip file. It's kinda cheatery because it spawns in your inventory unless you install another mod that you have to manually place into Documents\Bioware\AddIns\gw_runic_armor. It'd be easier to delete this folder instead.

If you delete any hair folders or .mop files, be sure to run the DA CharGenMorph thing and make it generate a new chargenmorph file and it will automatically remove any bad references that would otherwise lead to a CTD.

tsm_SA_RoP_fix is a mod that changes Morrigan's Robes of Possession that you find in Flemeth's hut to look like the robes Morrigan's wearing in the Sacred Ashes trailer. The LODs on them are kinda ****** up, though, so you might want to delete it if that's a big deal.

levelmeshwallfix is a mod that fixes broken lighting in some areas. It shouldn't conflict with anything.

z_light_armors_retex is the most visually big change. It changes the light armor textures big time. I installed it out of curiosity. They add textures from the sequels. Here are some screenshots: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/5056
If you don't like it, make sure to delete the zz_light_armors_retex_alt_tints folder too.

All of that applies to the bigger Override folder. The Vanilla+ doesn't have any of them, I think.
