No RPG elements? It probably goes here!

I have been playing games for Halloween.

Post by Vergil »

I decided I wanted to play games themed around the season all month, particularly those that have been on my backlog for a while.
So far I have played:
- Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi
- Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood
- Blood Omen 2: Legacy of Kain
and I'm currently in the middle of Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption.

Oh also in between these I've been playing V Rising again since they updated it since my last run through and now I own a legitimate copy so multiplayer is an option for once.

At some point I'd like to give a short overview of my experiences and opinions of each game probably at the end of the month and rate them on some sort of scale I don't know probably with sassy pictures of Astarion.

I found the multiplayer to be strictly worse, but I didn't play with friends. All it did was restrict the plots I could claim since they were all claimed

Cool little free game on Itch.io: 'Ghost Town Pumpkin Festival'
https://adamgryu.itch.io/pumpkin-carver

You can carve your own Jack O'Lantern design and upload it in the hopes of seeing it featured.
Or you can just wander around and look at everyone else's pumpkins.
There's a small world to explore with other ghosts including a scavenger hunt in a haunted house.
The only problem is that communication is limited to a list of phrases for quick speech bubbles.

I only really have multiplayer enabled so that friends can join my world if I'm online. Playing with randoms doesn't sound appealing at all as this is one of those games where while you're at work a 13 year old can destroy your base and steal all your stuff.
Was considering purchasing a server to have an always online world set up for friends to play on but I've been a bit busy for that lately so I'm still knocking the idea around in my head.

I think I played on a PvE server, there was basically zero interaction with other players beyond making the experience worse because I had to run far longer between areas due to all the good real estate being claimed

I feel like PvE is far better served with a more intimate group where there's not such massive competition for resources and instead you can occasionally help each other or just have someone to show your autismo ADD castle builds to xD

I would like to try this game again (according to Steam I haven't played since 2017) but I know so little about it, have basically no one to play it with, and my main interest is some of the guest characters like Alucard and Soma who I don't really want to pay for in a game that I'm not sure how much I will actually play.

This game just came out a few hours ago. It may look like one of those indie trooncore throwback games (and it kinda is), but the first one was pretty decent.

I'm intrigued by the concept and I do like a good platformer with guns in the vein of Jak or Ratchet but the aesthetics immediately scream Fortnite which is a bit off putting. It's only 3 dollars though hard to not spend the little bit of money on such a good deal.

2bh I think Halloween is a bit more specific than just 'horror'.
And as an example, I'll recommend a thematically fitting gothic game:

Van Helsing final cut(all 3 separate games stitched together) can be picked up for a few dollars on GOG right now. It's a game about, well, playing as Van Helsing.

I liked it.

Yes that's why there's only three games completed so far.
