like 7 or 8 or something, that match against those Underworld Denizens was cursed
rolled a permanent injury on my first turn trying to bash some random gobbo, got a both down dice. wasted my apothecary on that. so foolish. lost a random thrall in that match as well, but whatever

then i turn things around and start winning the match, only to have Manny himself die on me cause of the fuckin punk-*** troll

i alt-f4'ed, and it was against AI, so i think it doesn't keep the match results, but that kinda took the wind out of my sails lol

****, game just didn't want to see you make a comeback. That's why I always had a love/hate relationship with it it wasn't easy and you'd be nervous every **** play for the dice rolls. What was your record at that time? I think I only ever finished one season all the way through, didn't win the Championship though before having to call it quits. Game was brutal lol.

yeah playing as Vampires especially is rough with the dice since every vampire just has a 1/6 chance on needing to feed every fuckin turn lmao. had to be very careful with their turns, always needing a sacrificial lamb Thrall placed nearby in case they failed their bloodlust roll. I managed to win every game, but had a few close ones that went into overtime (**** you slippery *** elves , and i think the other one was from Chaos beating my *** into the dirt)

also old mate Vladdy V copped a permanent injury to his back in like match 2 or 3 lmao, was tempted to remake the team back then

lol buddy I think the worst start I ever had was only like 2 games in Chaos Team with the Beastmen, had 2 or 3 laid the **** out for most of the match lol and I end up scoring anyway as we had the ball going up field. 2 of the Beastmen end up dying and a 3rd gets a perma-injury and the other team tied it up, can't recall what team we were against but it was a rage inducing quit as well lolol.... the worst i had was trying to make a Dark Elf team work, every time i tried em they'd get so utterly roflstomped, copping injuries and deaths like there's no tomorrow

got to the point where i had an image saved called 'dark elf team in case they fuckin die again' so i could cross-reference their names and appearances every time i remade the team kek

LOL yeah I tried all the teams at one point and my save names were similar. " Game 1 done, all alive ", " 2 in, NO DEAD " etc... I think the Human/Empire teams I had the most 'neutral' experience with. I always hated making a team and coming up with cool names for the units knowing it was probably a waste of time as they're fuckin dead probably next game anyway lol... The game was a like a 'glutton for punishment' every time I loaded it up. You get this internal conversation going where you 'talk' to the game, trying to work out a 'deal' or ask it to play nice this time "PLEASE FFS"... and even out loud like it can hear you lol...

Hmm, that's a good question my man, Manny would know more probably as he most likely has more hours into it than I as he's the WH guy as far as I'm aware. I haven't played in years, ( loading up Steam now to see playtime and last time played ) looks like it was around this time of year 2016 for Bloodbowl 1 and Bloodbowl 2 was 2019. I wish you luck though lol.

Trails in the Sky remake

I have finished the Bose chapter 1.

Overall enjoying it, but it lacks something and I am trying to put my finger on. I am not sure if it's just because it's a remake to a game I have already played twice and thus doesn't have that magic of discovering new locations, meeting new people, watching a plot unfold for the first time, hearing new tracks for the first time, seeing new things, etc.

I think it might be the visual presentation, namely the expressiveness. IIRC the OG - descending from that Final Fantasy traditional of looking down at little characters reenacting a theater play - had the characters moving around a lot more, and ofcourse the more expressive 2D portraits. Here the characters are a lot more static feeling, and there us not as much if an attempt to make every face in every scene feel unique. Colonel Richard's face has lost its edge. Olivier's face has lost its slight hint of cunning. Schera's face has lost that slight catlike look. Weissman's foreshadowingly evil glare/slipup face looks impotent. Etc. I wish they had put more effort into the movements and the faces.

Image

I wish they had added a few extra battle tracks. Hearing the same sidequest boss theme boss theme, and danger theme over and over again quickly becomes repetitive.

It is disappointing that you can't see Haken Gate from atop the Amber tower, or really anything except Bose.

Image

Battles are getting pretty repetitive. Everyone uses clock up three times to max the speed buff and then uses clock up again when 1 turn is left in it to refresh. Estelle casts Earth Guard at the start and then people spresd out to avoid the party getting hit by AoEs. Estelle uses Morale to keep CP regen up. Estelle is positioned in the pack of mobs to draw proximity aggro and get hit to build CP for spamming morale. For AoE spam Aerial, for single target spam the cheap elemental spell it is weak too. Joshua spams Cloak and Dagger on bosses. Schera pop S-craft to prevent bosses from getting a zero arts turn order bonus. Ideally everyone should have an expensive art like the wind Storm that they can use if they get a zero arts turn order bonus.

The text was good up until now, but then there was unexpected Twitter slang and sudden cursing.

Only time something even remotely like that happened was in Kuro 1/Daybreak 1 when the reporter girl almost got consumed by a goo monster.

i havent tried 1, i only got into 2 after seeing streamers play it.

3 seems like a bit of a shitshow but might eventually become good, idk

2 just seems like the more polished, 'definitive' version of Blood Bowl imo

Playing Game & Watch Gallery 4, and I hate this Octo-******. He always knows the best moment to entrap me with his two tentacles in the bottom-right. Doesn't help that he looks similar to the octopus from that weird Titanic animated film from Italy.

I have finished Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter on Nightmare difficulty.
► Show Spoiler
Overall very good game, on par with the original but with different strengths. I preferred the character designs of the original game and the more realistic color palette/textures, but here I appreciate the 3D, the cool battle animations, the more engaging combat system, the voice acting, and a lot of neat touches. Can't go wrong with either. Pick whichever appeals to you the most. I think my enjoyment may have been brought down somewhat by playing on nightmare difficulty and getting stuck on a few boss fights in the early chapters, and then the nightmare difficulty's HP inflation combined with the battle design incentivizing you to ignore many crafts, but that might be more of a general Trails game design issue than something specific to this remake. I had no issues with the PC port.

I played the PSP remaster of 2, thought it was great, but 3 (Till the End of Time) is the best in the series imo. You should give it a shot. It has the best gameplay, story and soundtrack (has the best final dungeon theme in a JRPG) in the series. I recommend it, but emulate the PS2 version on PC because the official ports are broken and crash a lot.
Shame the remake isn't on steam, will have to aim for a ps2 emulation. All i know of 3 is that it's a skub game that divided the fanbase so curious to see what they did to cause that effect.

I had a Star Ocean game for PS2, it was pretty good but I didn't finish it. I remember really liking the setting.

The first paragraph of the plot sounds a lot like what I remember, so I guess it's the game you guys are discussing

Yeah, there's a massive twist in the game's story that was really controversial at the time. I thought it was neat though, personally.

Played a bit of Lufia II on Rusty's recommendation. Eh, didn't think much of it. Got as far as the second real dungeon (not counting the tutorial) and decided it was too grindy for my preferences, not all that enthused about the story either. In my head canon Maxim decides to stick to his hometown with his childhood friend, no adventure.

Bounced off of this. The decisions aren't what I would expect a team principal to be doing (allocating wind tunnel hours, deciding what to try and improve by 1% on the plank of the car) and it was just too jarring seeing Yuki Tsunoda on the podium two races in a row.

Rip, yeah I never really tried saving and exiting mid match, I guess it's a little unreliable

Usually have to set aside about an hour for a match
