Someone went through the effort to create a full remake of the client/server of both the original game and its sequel.

Perhaps not as well known as Neverwinter Nights, its main competitor, and for a good reason: AOL bought the rights to it then proceeded to kill it to prevent it from competing with Neverwinter Nights.

I remember seeing it as well as Fates of Twinion, but I never had the chance to play them.

This is interesting... as a 90s console peasant, I never played the original, but many have said that it was the original (and only?) online co-op blobber. I was never sure about that claim because I wasn't sure how functional the online multiplayer really was. But I guess it was like a MUD? Anyway, interesting to see a post about this obscure gem.

Edit: so has anyone actually played the original version? How good was the online co-op? I know those were 28/56k modem days, so there wasn't much bandwidth available for something too intense. Was it real-time? How did the gameplay work?

Last I played, mage/wizard/magic-whatever was far too powerful. It made most fights a joke. Also everyone but the leader is on auto-pilot in exploring last I remember as well. It was comfy, though comfy rarely is engaging.

Started playing it with Kal, pretty fun game even though I never played a dungeon crawler before (atleast these firstperson turnbased ones)

The sequel is also implemented, the third game (Cawdor) is also planned: https://www.medievalands.com/forums.php ... t=1902&p=0
But I very much want to see Cawdor running here, so I expect it will happen. Eventually.
@Kalarion has been playing it and is still searching for friends to join him, I think it's Him+Finarfin+Tweed. Drop by the chat if you're interested.

This looks very fun! Is it something you can drop in/drop out pretty easily or do you need to have dedicated sessions for it?

Drop in/drop out i'd say. both me and kal were lvl 10 and 11 while Gregz and Tweed just started. They are now at level 10.

We had fun tonight. We got to a map with lots of pits, I dropped us into them repeatedly. Every time we did I had to run us through a thief that stole like 50,000 ******* gold and ran off. Then we got bushwhacked by some cockatrices that stonegazed us. One TPK later and we called it for the night.

@Tweed smites all mobbles with his mighty Death Darts. We've been pumping spellpower and mana regen items in to him so we just walk around and let him deal with everything right now. It's great. Of COURSE @Gregz complained because he didn't get to "swing his sword", or whatever the ****

I had a lot of fun as Dexter the party's hobbit rogue. I deciphered many mysterious scriptses and lockpicked many doors!

I had fun and saved the party more than once, and as usual I get slandered and thrown under the bus.
