Please, add the Survival skill to Norman. If that's too many skills, then swap the Prophesizing skill to Survival and the Commune spell to Cure Light Wounds.Irenaeus wrote: ↑ March 27th, 2025, 15:44Hey folks,

You two are right, I posted an old table without the sling added and the survival skill added. Let me post the updated table when I get home.logincrash wrote: ↑ March 27th, 2025, 16:02

No, Clerics aren't survivalists. Your parents sent you away to Fancy Lads, because you weren't going to cut it in the major leagues. Maybe in the next life.

It's more fun to have dumb RP skills and then figure out a way to make it work anyway.maidenhaver wrote: ↑ March 27th, 2025, 16:18No, Clerics aren't survivalists. Your parents sent you away to Fancy Lads, because you weren't going to cut it in the major leagues. Maybe in the next life.

Don't worry there will be plenty of very difficult challenges for Norman the Cleric (@logincrash character).Stack of Turtles wrote: ↑ March 27th, 2025, 16:20It's more fun to have dumb RP skills and then figure out a way to make it work anyway.maidenhaver wrote: ↑ March 27th, 2025, 16:18No, Clerics aren't survivalists. My PC's parents disowned him after he ran off and joined a gang of outlaws. He's been living in the wilderness for quite a long time. He picked up bits and pieces on how to survive off the land.maidenhaver wrote: ↑ March 27th, 2025, 16:18No, Clerics aren't survivalists. @Oyster Sauce any comments?
What the Characters Know and Their Opinions
1. Osgar Saustian (Fighter, Sharp-Eyed, Skinny, Fearful)
Knowledge: Osgar, a cowardly border clan guard who fled after a scandal, knows the Arandian Kingdom as a place of rigid rules and harsh consequences. He’s heard of the crown’s taxes and the Church’s sermons, but his knowledge is limited to village gossip—tales of bandits in the wilderness, beasts that haunt the woods and up the hills, and the Church’s priests who “judge every sin you commit.” He’s vaguely aware of the kingdom’s stories but doesn’t care about its history, too busy running from his own.
Opinions:
The Crown: “They’ll never find me here, but their taxmen are worse than bandits—squeezing us dry while we starve!” Osgar fears the crown’s reach, seeing it as an extension of the authority he fled.
The Church of the One True God: “They judge and hang folks for less than what I did—best keep my head down around those priests.” He’s terrified of the Church’s inquisitors, seeing their faith as a noose waiting to tighten.
Noble Hierarchy: “The Lords' guards are a bunch of dumbasses, but his taxes? They’ll take your last copper and spit on you!” Osgar resents the nobles for their greed, though he’s too scared to defy them.
The Warmage Academy: “Magic schools for nobles? Sounds like a fancy way to burn yourself up.” He’s heard rumors of the Academy but dismisses it as irrelevant to his survival.
The Wild Frontier: “It’s a death trap out there—beasts, bandits, and worse! I’d rather guard a gate than step one foot past the palisade.” The borderlands terrifies him, amplifying his fearful nature.
Magic: “It’s cursed, all of it! I heard of a farmer who found a glowing ring—next day, he was a pile of ash!” Osgar fears magic, seeing it as a harbinger of doom.
Fringe Groups: “Traders are cheats, crafters overcharge, artists are liars, and outlaws? They’ll slit your throat for a laugh!” He distrusts everyone on the fringes, seeing them as threats to his already uncertain safety.

Some of the supplies Stein Von Steiner picked up for alchemy/brewing/etc are missing from the table?
► Effected items

@TKVNC here's your character's impression of the setting. How do you feel about it?
7. Tillomar the Accused (Ranger, Knows Ambush Tactics, Skeptical, Cold)
Knowledge: Tillomar, a ranger falsely accused of murder, knows the Arandian Kingdom through the lens of the frontier. He’s aware of the crown’s neglect, the Church’s weak influence in the villages, and the local noble’s scorching taxes, but his focus is on the wilderness—its beasts, bandits, invaders, and the old gods who linger in its wilds. His survival skills give him a practical understanding of the land’s dangers.
Opinions:
The Crown: “They don’t care about the borderlands—or me. Let them rot in Segothir.” Tillomar dismisses the crown, his skepticism fueled by their abandonment.
The Church of the One True God: “Their priests called me a murderer without proof—hypocrites!” He distrusts the Church, seeing it as complicit in his false accusation.
Noble Hierarchy: “The Lords' guards hunted me like a dog—nobles are just bandits with titles.” He dislikes the nobles, his cold nature hardened by their betrayal.
The Warmage Academy: “Magic schools? Never heard of ‘em, and I don’t care—my bow doesn’t need spells.” He’s indifferent to the Academy, focused on survival.
The Wild Frontier: “The valley’s my home now—its dangers are my allies, if I play them right.” He embraces the valley, seeing it as a refuge despite its perils.
Magic: “It’s trouble—cursed ruins, mad wizards, no thanks. I’ll stick to my arrows.” He’s wary of magic, seeing it as a source of chaos in the valley.
Fringe Groups: “Traders are marks, crafters are useful, artists are fools, and outlaws? They’re my kind—survivors.” He respects outlaws, if they are skillful, but does not care much for the other groups.

Alright, we are close to starting the game. I was thinking of starting today, that is, posting the opening post of the new thread for game but I will wait for tomorrow and see if you players have more opinions/suggestions. Is there anything you want to change? Anything to clarify? Now it's the time!

He was an entirely rolled character, but he's more of the peasant without any real knowledge of the wider world, it's more apathy than hate towards the nobility or the Church at the moment, because he doesn't really know them.Irenaeus wrote: ↑ March 27th, 2025, 22:35@TKVNC here's your character's impression of the setting. I'm fine with him being pursued by the Lord's men -- Let's say the farmer's men sent a message to the local captain or someone of that sort, but I doubt he'd know that yet.
The skepticism is more about seeing violence and hardship, so he isn't naive.
His coldness is because he's pretty much had nothing his entire life.
I guess he's probably just apolitical at the moment.

Felix should also have Ambushing + Stealth provided by background.
I have to fight for each skill point! I already feel myself on the borderland!

Didn't we have the topic about the archery training skill @maidenhaver @TKVNC ? I forgot who asked for it, if there is something you want to do in that regard, I would assume now is the time.

Was it not in regards to Strength vs Agility? Or something like that?Lord of Riva wrote: ↑ March 28th, 2025, 07:10Didn't we have the topic about the archery training skill @maidenhaver @TKVNC ? I would say quality of Bow should be strength, and damage may have a strength element, with accuracy being tired to Agility.
That's practical imho

Roll on DEX for hits, STR for damage? Is that what we're doing?
Yes, I brought up the camp training. Cost is some sleep for a buff on hits?
@Irenaeus where are the traits and skills at in the system book?
