Defiance being revived on April 18th

Weird MMO shooter that was tied to a TV series. Never got to play it, pretty sure it got acquired by some Korean publisher and shut down. Seems some indie publisher acquired it and is going to revive it.

The game has two separate editions, 2013 and 2050. Says the 2013 edition will be back up next month.

Given how cheap cloud hosting is now I can't really think of a good reason for any old MMO to not be revived, beyond licensing issues I guess. Even a handful of players would cover server costs + employ one network admin part time. More than that and you can pay a couple devs.

My brother and I played this way back when. I forget how, but I entered some contest just on a whim for random e-mail draw or some promotion thing and I won the Collector's Edition with the huge box, an over the shoulder laptop bag and a hellbug figurine haha. Still have it too. I can dig it out for some pics if wanted.

Yeah I'll tell my brother about it shortly and see what he thinks. It was janky but I enjoyed because I was playing it with him. I've had the show on my external drive for years. Season 1 is good, but after that it gets more into the political maneuvering aspect and it all just felt off. Watching S1 and just leaving it as is, as a cliff hanger is where I internally leave it lol.

This was made by the same company that made Rift and did the big "you are not in Azeroth anymore" marketing campaign, right? And they had enough money to fund a tie-in show? Wonder how they got all that money. They came and went just as fast as they appeared.

The Site is good so far, subtitles are a bit wonky at times but only when a new scene starts basically.
First 20 minutes and I still like Nolan just as much as I did when I was young (I was 17 when it came out and I think my brother bought me the game for PC because I liked the Beta so much)

Yeah, same company like RIFT, got a bit too ambitious though and it didn't run long. They did say whatever happened in the Series was visible in the game and vice versa. Had about 3 Seasons and then it got cancelled.

At first, I was worried that they were only able to reacquire funds by selling out to some globohomo company in order to relaunch the game but I was pleasantly surprised to see that wasn't the case. No mention of pozz whatsoever.

I loved this game very much when it was online and I'll be looking forward to the day it releases once more!

EP1 done, good pacing, a lot of important characters were established, you know their relationships to eachother, some of the world background. Overall a good pilot episode. Also the Castithan look cool, and well Stahma Tarr is hot as ****.

Yeah they introduce you to a lot of characters in the 1 hr 25 mins but it doesn't feel rushed and it's easy to understand who is who and what their positions are and how they are viewed by others. I don't recall seeing that Nolan actor in anything else but this show first and I liked him as well. No excessive smarmy sarcasm like Nathan Fillion's characters or Nathan Drake from Uncharted. Tony Curran ( Datak Tarr ) I always liked. I remember seeing him in Underworld as 'Marcus' and Blade 2 as 'Priest' first. Makes a good 'bad guy' with that stare of his. Don't be letting that pale viper lead you astray now lol. I'm rained in here now for maybe 3 or 4 hours so I might fire up EP3 while I wait for little bro to get here.

I think Grant Bowler was also in Gallipoli but other than that he is in less known stuff. Shame tbh, he plays Nolan quite well. Tony Curran is great. Some actors are perfect for bad guy roles, especially those actors that are wholesome in real life but can play the meanest son of a ***** alive. By pale viper you mean Stahma right? Can't help it, I find evil women in media hot.

I just started EP2, pretty great so far still. And I really like the Mayor too (she also played Dexter's girlfriend/wife in well Dexter)
