If we're being real New Vegas is probably the only good fallout game to actually play.

A problem with high resolution texture mods in FNV and similarly old games is you're quickly going to run up against the wall of memory space available for a 32bit application. This could theoretically be fixed with e.g., a fork of DXVK that uses entirely out of process memory, but I don't think anything exists like that yet.
i thought u gonna write that sooner or later u run into low res texture that will look out of place and make entire thing look more fake than before

Don't worry most of that is manipulating angles and lighting like an insta model. I'm also using NVR settings that I don't actually use during gameplay because it chugs the fuck out of the framerate.

What up, peeps?

New guy here. I've never played New Vegas before. Well, that's a lie.
I actually played it a few years ago for 10hrs~, myb less, and then the game crashed a few times too many and I gave up on it. But I remember actually having fun after getting used to how the rusty guns work. I think I might actually like this more than I suspect.

Are there some stability mods for NV that HQ can recommend? I'm planning on playing this later this year and would like to make the experience as crash free as possible.
I don't really mind the game looking old or whatever, but if there are any cosmetic mods that are easy to use with the Steam version I might give them a try.
These are pretty much the bare essentials that should keep the game running pretty perfectly. Keep in mind you'll need New Vegas Script Extender (NVSE) as well.
New Vegas Anti Crash

New Vegas Heap Replacer

Combat Lag Fix

ActorCause Save Bloat Fix

FNV 4GB Patcher
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/62552
New Vegas Tick Fix

Would any of the mods prevent you from getting the achievements on Steam?
I'm unaware what the rules are when it comes to achievements and modding.

Mods should disable achievements but it's a bit wonky and doesn't always deactive them depending on the mod.

Does anyone have Nipton Rebuilt Remade in their load order at the moment? It's blocked on the Nexus and I'm looking for a download for it.

Have you tried messaging the mod's developer?

I'm concerned if I did that and he agreed to it then a nexus admin might see those PMs and would treat it as some sort of moderation evading/ban evading and take action against the both of us. I checked his account and couldn't find an off-site way to get ahold of him.

What do you mean by blocked on nexus? Did the moderators ban it or did the author take it down? If the author took it down there's still a way to get the link iirc

He's already under scrutiny of the faggy janny. Would you rather just wait until he gets banned and you have no way to contact him at all?
