I would like to be able to go to Dashboard -> Albums -> [Album Name] and upload a file there instead of uploading from the landing page and setting the album via dropdown.

Ah that makes sense and would be a good addition (I tend to make albums for reviews and it is annoying having to click on each picture and ticking the box for the album)
