Ubisoft is on the forefront of ESG and DEI. They were doing this **** long before they got money for it. Remember before how they would have messages in their games spouting how diverse their dev teams were and that was back in the early 2000's. Long before ESG and DEI were a thing. Ubisoft was always pozzed to hell but people back then gave them a pass because people used to like the games they put out. Not so much anymore.

I believe so or it probably plays when you do a new game. It is really asinine. Like, we get that certain entertainment were products of their times, people aren't that stupid. It is really stupid and a detriment to these games that you have to add messages like this. Imagine doing this to books like The Divine Comedy or Heart of Darkness. It would be stupid.

to be fair that was exclusive to Assassin's Creed back then, and it only contained the line about religious beliefs/cultural backgrounds which is actually somewhat understandable given the topics that those earlier entries dealt with - the whole gender/orientation ******** was only added with Syndicate in 2015 IIRC, which is completely ******* irrelevant in the context of those games.

The first instance I saw of this **** in ANY game was actually Assassin's Creed 1 yeah. Thought it was just because they were delving into ******* realms and wanted to absolve themselves a little from any retaliation.
