[BG3 Mod Request] Deeper voice mod?

Post by Evikdor39 »

A game that has more genital & pronoun options than voices...

The voice options all sounds the damn same (male) and it's off-putting when trying to play a race like orc/dwarf.

There's this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/2736 that sounds fine except: 1) without using this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/8224 it won't work because of something Larian did around patch 6 to the audio? 2) it doesn't cover "point and click" voices which is like 95% of how you hear your own character, or any character outside of dialogue, so I don't want to turn that off. It also doesn't cover things like grunts when climbing something or spell casting voice.

If I knew how to extract voice files and run them some kind of AI that changes the pitch I would, but I am no smarty.

I agree. The game with it's supposed "vast customization" has no voices fit for dwarves, drow, halflings, dragonborns and orcs. No beards that are long enough to cover the whole chest.

There are mods from @Lancaster that do race accurate voices that might interest you, though I am unsure how they fare with the patch 6 thing as I stopped trying with this game, for now at least.
This is an example for Dwarves, you can see more of his mods linked further down his post

I also know of this one

this one for Orcs
https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/2100
and Dragonborns

all from the same author.

It's been a while since I have updated the racially accurate voices due to wanting to change the race of some NPC's all together. This project is not abandoned just put on hold. Also it's early work that can be improved.

That one sounds pretty good but it seems to have the same problem of not working for "point and click" voice lines, I wonder why that is though? What makes that particularly difficult to mod?

I like the stoic paladin one. I'm curious though from what the Nexus author said about the "point and click" voices, why they won't ever be able to fix those? What makes it difficult for modders compared to the non-point and click lines?

Every voice except for the point & click is located in a sound bank file. The point & click commands are in a different file that would require hours of going through.

Point and click lines come from a shared sound "bank" that work across npcs. And they are not clearly defined in the code like conversation lines. Even with programming i couldnt find everything.

Oof, because of course Larian has to code things like that (like how their spaghetti code treats open doors as walls so you still have to go through them and can't shoot/throw through them :headbang: )

I happened across this resource as I was looking into voice mods, dunno if it's worth a damn though https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Tsb ... x45ekscygi

Yep that will help, but even there are lines that you can't tell apart between voices. its a major pain :(

Not to mention they're a bunch of grunts, and yelps that the AI will have a hard time with.
