Adventurer's Guild Games Suggestions & Upcoming

Post by rusty_shackleford »

  • Try to limit game suggestions to one per poster, and only people who will actually participate.
  • Suggested games should be obscure, old, or old and obscure. Try to avoid any popular title or title a large portion of people here have likely already played.
  • Feedback from people who actually participate will be taken much more seriously than shitposters when making any decisions.
  • When suggestions are made you also provide details for installation/which version to play/estimated playtime.
  • One week before the start of a new month, a game will be selected randomly from the list of games using a fair, hardware-seeded RNG roll.
Current game list:

Code: Select all

Legends of Amberland: The Forgotten Crown
Dragon Wars
Realms of Antiquity
Exile III
The Aethra Chronicles, Volume One: Celystra's Bane
Daemonsgate
Prophecy of the Shadow
Crystals of Arborea
Challenge of the Five Realms
Amberstar
Anvil of Dawn
Demon's Winter
Dungeon Master
Fallout 1.5: Resurrection
Stonekeep
Wasteland 1
Wizardry 1
Dark Sun: Shattered Lands
Dungeon Master II: The Legend of Skullkeep
Druid: Daemons of the Mind
Elvira: Mistress of the Dark
Ravenloft: Strahd's Possession
The Legacy: Realm of Terror
Sentinel Worlds I: Future Magic
Abandoned Places: A Time for Heroes
Black Crypt
Shadowlands
AutoDuel

How about new games with an old-school approach like Realms of Antiquity or Jettatura?

The problem with doing new games is there are tons of older games we have to pick from.
Realms of Antiquity looks nice, however.

On a serious note: Phantasy Star Collection GBA, so I can play on my phone while I'm at work.

The title of the thread is not clear enough. Upcoming games... on Steam?

Anyone have any ideas on how we should pick games?
This one's easy, just play what I tell you. I am the arbiter of good taste after all.

Changed the title, it's for picking games for us to play.

Is this going to turn into some fruity podcast where we all scream and laugh at everything while we play?

What's this all about? Tunnels & Trolls is a highly prestigious game developed by New World Computing, with a detailed manual written by Neal Hallford.

Legends of Amberland is a fun retro/clone in the style of Might & Magic III. And of course Dragon Wars was the real Bard's Tale IV, as it should have been an installment in that series.

Of those choices, LoA is the most accessible. Tunnels & Trolls has incredible depth and complexity, so it requires an investment of time.

Starfire was translated in part by our very own AncientDoorhinge, that has to be a glowing endorsement in and of itself.

I'd like to participate, but my backlog is too big. Maybe next year.

I should probably make a sticky to explain what this is about.
We're picking games to play each month, the current month is Shard of Spring: viewtopic.php?t=720-october-shard-of-spring
Everyone participating plays the game simultaneously and provides feedback/assistance.

As an incentive, you get a badge for completion — Check Watser's post earlier in this thread, he has the Shard of Spring badge.

This thread is just for picking games, and deciding how we should pick games. Preferably ones that are more obscure/less played.

Discarding Starfire because it requires some weirdo asian emulator to play.

Current game list:

Code: Select all

Tunnels & Trolls: Crusaders of Khazan
Legends of Amberland: The Forgotten Crown
Dragon Wars
Realms of Antiquity
Also I'll add Starwind if @Watser thinks it's a good fit.

Starwind looks fun.
Maybe Realms of Antiquity is better suited for a special extended edition as the game is around 100 hours long according to the dev.

There's 168 hours in a week isn't there?

Speaking of Shock 2 at some point we should try to play together. It's a pain in the ass to set up, but it's a hilarious experience.

I wonder how free roam starwind is? Could speedrun it if your not planet locked

Oh it's a totally different storyline, watched a video and now I want to play KoTOR again though

Think I'm going to include long games by having games run concurrently with no deadline for badges.
