I only consistently read two webcomics back in the day (provided they actually count—some webcomics are structured like Sunday funnies while many instead have long arcs); couldn't get into the others I was exposed to for various reasons. One was Toothpaste for Dinner, and the other was Cyanide and Happiness. Haven't read either since my early adulthood, so I can't speak for the quality these days or how pozzed the artists may have become.

I'd love to see a Where Are They Now? on webcomic artists of yore. Just looked up Pictures For Sad Children because I remembered the artist went nutso and burned all of the physical copies of his comic he crowdfunded. Wikipedia is telling me he's now a beautiful woman named Simone Veil.
One of the Penny Arcade guys is a schizo and the other has at least 2 trooned out kids.
I think Ronnie Filyaw of Whomp! had some serious issues a few years ago and went on hiatus.
Matt Furie, creator of Pepe, tried to kill off the character to somehow stop right-wing people from using him.
Andrew Hussie became an unironic clowngender eboy in his mid 40s.

Tim Buckley, B^U guy, as far as I know has a secretive personal life and still makes CAD. Ironically, being ostracized from insular groups of insane artists was probably super beneficial to him in the end.
